Ok everyone here is my dilema, I have to get my car painted and done with exterior work and some engine work before July 16th. If any of you own a paint shop and could answer the following that would be glorious. I was wondering how much a paintjob would run on a 350z (or newer chevy cars) orange, or a smokey grey type color (you can see it in the evolution in the newest sport compact car). I was also wondering what I would need to buy in order to get it prepped and everything for paint...and what grit of sandpaper to get the stock paint off.

And heres where I need your opinion (not flames) what color should I paint it??

Heres my car: http://www.cardomain.com/memberpage/698632 .

Thanks to those that help.....

Hey, I have a great idea.

CALL A LOCAL BODY SHOP AND GET A QUOTE.

the cost of the paint job depends on how good of a job you want. i know companys like peach auto paint will do your car for 250 but the paint job wont be very good. a paint job isnt about what type of paint you spray but the prep job before it, if youve ever seen American Hot Rod on discovery channel youll see how much prep time they put into it. priming sanding priming again and sanding making sure everything looks perfect. you should call a local painting shop and ask as they will give you a better estimate than anyone on the boards.
as for the prepping equipment you should get an electric sander as it will save you a lot of time. sand it with a rougher grit paper to get down to the metal and progressivly get finer. primer the whole thing and then wet sand until youll fine with your work. remember the more time you put into prepping the better it will come out in the end.
personally i think you should paint you car a deep navy blue but thats because im biased towards blue. that or black with a few coats of clear on it would make it look nice.

cool kit =), im in the process of painting my (stock) sideskirts. I think they will look nice the same color as my car. I went with PPG Mack Blue, i wanted anything diffrent then the stock colors.

If your going to pay the money to get it painted, may as well get something out of the ordinary.
