Hi All - you'll have to forgive, as i know Nothing about celicas. Heres the story. My buddy just got a 1990 Celica GT (really nice looking car) from a friend who had it sitting in his field for two years. I was expecting to see a heap - but was pleasantly surprised to see a Complete car, with No body damage, and great interior. Just really needs to be cleaned up. Im amazed the paint has held up so well (its an all black car, with the hatchback thing.) The engine appears to be all there.
All the info we got was that it didnt start. So we plugged up a jumper box to it - and tried it just see - all lights comes on the dash, and parking lights etc work. But will not try and turn over, no cranking or anything. I believe i remember hearing low click sound.
Anyhow - i know this is all vague - but wondering if people can set me in the right direction - as to first things to try out. I have a feeling its a computer/electrical issue - as its not even trying to startup, but definetly is getting juice from the battery. I live near a pretty good junkyard with modern cars that has parts cheap - what other cars besides Celica does this engine setup live in?
Nice looking car - quite a find for $0 investment.
Up to this point - my only experience with cars is keeping a '92 Buick Park Avenue on the road, and restoring a '64 galaxie. (my buddy is much more the mechanic, but also works on older american cars)
Thanks - Mike

Does the car have a Toyota Security System by any chance? If it does the starter may have been locked out. I have that problem and I am looking for a solution. You do something like turn the key in the door lock first one way then the other. If you have security let me know and I'll let you know shen I solve the problem.
