What a recovery!

About 4 months ago, I nearly ruined my Tamiya Loctite-Zexel Skyline with a really bad paintjob.
it took me absolutely ages to strip it to the point where I felt I could make it look good again. (No CSS in the UK), but in stripping it, I managed to pull a hole in the edge of the rear bumper (fender) big enough to get a pencil through.
...I know, I know - but the cloth I was using to dry it snagged the plastic and a bit just "pinged" off, and I couldn't find it...
Anyhow, this gave me the excuse I needed to use my Revell Putty (Dificult to find Tamiya Putty too, over here - most stores only sell Revell adhesive etc.).
See if you can spot the repair.

Turning the model over, you can see how I did this.

I took a rectangular piece of plastic from my spares box, "roughed it up" using coarse wet and dry and then "superglued" it to the rear of the bumper.
I filled it using the Revell Putty and left it for 24 hours to dry.
Sanding it down was easy, but after priming it, I discovered that it needed some more filling. (See, there is a *definate* need to prime your models :p)...
After sanding and priming for a second time, I'm ready to start the gloss work again. (Let's just hope I don't make a pig's ear of it this time, too)...
...The rectangle of plastic was small enough not to get in the way when the floorpan was put back on - I checked this before I started (for once). When the model is finished, you shouldn't be able to see it (unless you're picky).
I'm not daft enough to try to remove it, although that would make a "perfect" fix...

couldn't work out where the repair was.
Good luck on the kit they look real good when finished. It was my favorite model to make, my pride and joy.:)
p.s. make sure the front spoiler is FULLY glued before even attempting to fit to the base.

yeah, thats a top repair job! Its a good feeling when u pull off a good repair :) - beats that sinking feeling u get when u break the damn thing in the first place:mad:

yea man......a truly good save.....too bad my ITR was far beyone repair....the roof and all the pillars broke off.....could've made a convertible except the a-pillars broke off too......SNIFF SNIFF
