ASE question!

How can a intake air leak cause a compressor wheel vanes to be pitted in a turbo?!?!?!?

I just don't understand the logic there... :banghead: ....maybe some1 can help me out.

by pitted i mean small craters on the surface of the metal.

the only thing i can think of would be that you might have sucked some sand in or something...

i haven't heard of this before
