I have a 89 honda civic with a dohc zc swap the num 9 code flashes on the ecu .I laready changed the spark plugs, wires, rotor, and the dis. cap.and i checked all the wires on the dis. for any damaged wires.is this the reaso why my car loses power each time the RPM hits 3000?

code 9 is the cylinder position sensor. the wires could be bad or the magnetic pick-up in the distributor could be bad. Voltages are very important on non-obd ecu's. i would run jumper wires from the harness side connector on the distributor plug- run them to the ecu at C1 and C2. This is bypassing all the engine harness so if the code goes away, then it is a wiring problem, if it still throws the code, get a new distributor. I had the same problem and all the resistances checked out as well as no shorts or opens but when i ran new wires directly to the ecu, it worked fine.
Also, the reason why it looses power is because a code 9 will cause the ecu to run in limp mode/safe mode. (it wont make good power).

would I have to upgrade the ecu to a zc ecu?
or will the stock ecu work fine. also could you give me a diagram (or colors) of the wires to jump from the distributer to the ecu. _THANKS
