Which version are you building, specifically? The base model Firebird in 1982 had the 4-cylinder iron duke, which can be found in any MPC Pontiac Fiero kit. The S/E had a V6, the 2.8L I believe, which can be found in later MPC Fiero kits or the recently re-issued Revell '85 Fiero GT (although the intake manifold will need to be modified), although the V8 was optional. I don't remember if the power-bulge hood was available on non-Trans Am models in 82, though... Any way, can't wait to see it done!

I've done a little researching, and I havent found an SE with the power bulge hood. But, this kit certainly isnt a Trans Am nor Forumla. It also comes with 14" or 15" 2-piece wheels, they look like the wheels used on K.I.T.T. (The car from Knight Rider)

As for the motor, its a basic 305 TBI, with the dual intake system? I dont know the correct name for it, but it resembles the cross-ram on the 302 Camaro's.

Slightly weathered.. btw, what was the point in GM making the exhaust come so close to the side?

I changed the intake to a single 4-barrel carb, with a Holley filter element. Also gave it an MSD ignition

And I dont know the specific name of the color, although it resembles "Black Cherry." A color used on 94-96 Impala SS's

Wow. I never thought I would see this kit here. Is that the Revell 1/25 kit that has a picture of a Maroon and White Firebird on the front of the box? Or is this the 1/16 version with the Silver car on the box art?

The 82 Trans Am was exactly that, with the power bulge hood, 305 V8, and those "Knight Rider" wheels (That's where Knight Rider got them, they're the stock wheels)

The dual intake system is called the Crossfire Injection system (more commonly called the miss-fire injection system :D )

Yea, Crossfire.. i wasnt sure the name of it, but I did know the Crossfire came on the early model C4 Vette's.

This kit is the 1:25 one, with a black and gold car on the cover (although, I have seen the maroon one)
