Grand Am Check Engine Light

My 96 Grand Am 2.4L has the check engine light on and sometimes it will go off, now i notice that when the light is on the fan will stay on all the time like i can hear him go off when the car shuts off, the only time he'll shut off, when the light aint on the fan works properly, Any ideas? only Codes i'm getting is one for emissions where the exhaust is bad

The check engine light will always make your fans kick on. No matter which code it is. Your best bet is to take your car to a Autozone . If you have one. They scan your vehicle for free. Good luck and let us know which code it ends up being.

Ok i just went out and pluged in the computer checked for codes got p0440 or something so i reset them and when i started the car light was gone off and the fan was working properly
