My Silvia...i need help = p

whats up guys? New kid here, just want to give it up to you guys for putting a forum up to help diff people from all over.

I need help..i've got 10 grand to waste and im looking to get a silvia.
I'm dropping the KA24 and slapping an SR20DET in it, in hopes of blowing the shit out of my fellow class mates and their honda SIs and such.
Could any of you guys reccomend people to go to for advice or help me out yourselves? I would be gratefull to you all. :bloated:

hmmmmmm 10g's is not enough for all that stuff. however you can start with a 89 240sx for 1000 dollars. thats how much my friend bought his for. then just swap a SR20DET. you can get the front clip from venus auto parts (916) 739-6002. or www.venus_auto.com they have the front clip for 2200. and they'll ship it for 700.

silvias come with the sr20,
get a s13 Q(not k) there non turbo and lighter and more sportyer than the s14s, so you can put the turbo you want in them

We got 180SXs that were called 240SXs, and we got "One-vias" (180SX front & Silvia rear) that were also called 240SXs. We had KA24DE motors in all, no SR20s in any. :(

Got a question tho...does the clip come with front mount intercooler or right hand drive? I read somewhere that some clips come with dash and everything, and i dont want the sil to be right hand driven.
Also...the 89 SX, is that the fastback or the coupe? I was kinda looking for the fastback 180sx body style. One in town selling for 950obo with like 150 thousand miles on it. need a paint job too...that a good deal?

Not really on the subject, but I told my friend to drop an SR20DET in his Ranger! Does anyone know if that can be done?!:confused:

ive been kinda researching this cuz i think im gonna build a silvia race car to play with. the s13 motor is cheaper to come by and will make more power when built cuz of a better high port head design. but the s14 and s15 have variable intake timing and better stock turbos so they are better stock motors and probably better daily driver motors. also the s15 comes with 444 cc injectors stock while s13 and s14 come with 370.

a front clip comes with everything in front of the a pillars. it doesnt usually include the dash, so u will remain left hand drive. it will however come with all necessary plumbing and wiring harnesses which makes it MUCH easier than just buying a motor.

check the new issues of sport compact car for an article where they bought a 240sx, bought an s13 front clip, swapped the motor, and bought the s13 front fenders, hood, headlights and grill and put those on, all for $3000.

Skip the VIS kit dude, its just a cheap copy of the strawberry face convertion, if your gonna do it, do it right!! Just buy a 180 hatch, then buy a S15 blacktop SR, and if you have the cash, buy a S13 clip w/o engine and make yourself a sweet little sileighty!! Thats my plan in the future anyway............

yup delaysion already answered what needs to be answered. when you get the front clip. its still goin to be rigth hand drive. and you'll need to reroute the heating pipes and the intercooler pipes. since most stock S13 silvia's comes side mounted intercoolers. and the 89-90 240sx's came in two flavors. one is the hatch or you can get the coupe version.

Ok i got in contact with venus auto. They do have a clip for sale so im gonna get that. It has an S13 redtop in it with 50,000 km on it i think, i'm going to go look at it again to make sure. This Silvia is going to own all just to let you know :smoker2:. I plan to get done with the swap near the end of summer <i hope...> and then i'll be up for more....You know these import projects...they never end. Oh btw, where can i get an authentic 'berry face front end? I hate the stock front end on the 180sil.
