got a 1990 silverado given to me but it has some problems.
first- the oil filter adapter seems to be leaking. can i get rid of it and put the filter right on the block?
second- it seems to lose all lights in the rear only when i turn the head lights on. brake lights and signal lights. they work fine until i turn on the head lights.
third-it seems to lose major power when the hea lights are turned on.even while parked you can rev it right up then when the headlights are on it hesitates while reving.
four- seems very hesitant on take off
could most of the electrical problems be a bad ground?
please let me know about the oil filter asap thanks in advance

yes its an oil cooler. the cooler part is missing on my truck.it only has one line going from the top to the bottom so i figured i could just eliminate it all together

why would oil drip out of the rad? there are no lines going to it. the line comes out of the adapter then loops around back to the other fitting.its not hooked to anything but itself.thats why i just want to eliminate it

I had the same oil leak problem on my 96 5.7, and I just found a threaded nipple for the oil filter off of an older 350 and did away with the cooler altogether. I'v had lots of 350s with out coolers, and had no heating problems. The electrical problem may be in the turn signal switch. My buddy just replaced his after encountering some problems with no brake lights, no high low beams and no 4 ways. It isn't a cheap piece, but I've seen them on ebay for under $100.00
