Make sure the sensor is still plugged in, and make sure it is still attached to the block. But I have a feeling only a bad or disconnected sensor will trigger that DTC. Its definitely not because its simply reading too much knock or anything like that. They are around 50 bucks at the dealer.

where is this sensor and what does it look like?

Its on the back of the block between the 1 and 2 cylinder. The only sensor on that side of the motor. It has a hex on it, about 24-26 mm, with a pigtail coming off it (2 wire). It plugs into the harness right over the tranny. Be careful when installing the new one, the torque spec is around ~7 ft lbs despite its large size. Over torquing can make it over sensitive.

I dont think a resistance test will tell you anything. I believe the sensor is a piezo-electric device.

hmmm. is there anyway to check it? i know it makes a connection from the plug to the sensor, but im not sure about to the ecu or where ever the other end goes.

If you want to check the wiring to the ECU, check the vfaq to see what pin it goes to. Ohm it out with a meter. There is no test you can do for the sensor itself.

No, I wish it worked, but unfortunately it doesn't.
