Recently installed tornado on my caravan. Bought it on ebay for $36.00.
Preinstallation I got 17.4 MPG. After installed, I got 22 MPG. 24 % increase. I figured at $2.00 gal, payoff is roughly 1200 miles.

I have been looking at these for some time now. I always thought that it might just be some sort of gimick. But now with the high gas prices WOW!! I read some reveiws on this also, and mostly positive. What size engine do you have in your van?

The kind of "tornados" we have in Texas won't help gas mileage much!!! Would someone please explain to me what kind of tornado B33p3r is talking about.

I have the 3.3. And the tornado is basically a 6 finned prop. It gets placed just past the MAF. Theory is it swirls the intake air creating a vortex. This somehow makes better use of the fuel giving you better gas milage. I was always sceptical myself until a friend tried one and got similiar results. With the price of gas as it is, payoff comes alot sooner.

I can tell you that I bought 2 tornados. One for my caravan and one for my explorer. My explorer hasn't showed any better mileage to date. I had a couple installation screw ups on my part but am still not convinced it does my explorer any good. I'm removing it from my explorer and doing a much more controlled test on MPG one more time. If it doesn't show improvement I'm considering it a failure for 98 explorers 4.0 SOHC.
For the caravan, I'm extremely pleased with the results. They have held up for a couple tanks of gas. More to come, but you'll have to check out the explorer site to get results.

ran a year without the tornado avg 13 city&17 hwy on 99 Dodge GC AWD w/3.8L and 132K mi. with tornado installed for 2 years avg 16 city & 21 hwy. Getting ready to ad a K & N filter to see if this can be boosted a little higher... :lol2:
