i recently changed my injectors on my gt (6 cylinder) for the sds system i just got. after i put everything back together i'm getting a misfire and a constand LOUD tapping noise. someone suggested that i possibly got something in the clylinder when i was changing parts around and other say it's a normal lash problem. anyone else encounter a problem like this that could help me out? thanks.k, i just took a small piece of metal out of one of the cylinders. that took care of the irregular tapping. now i got. . . i guess a knock ? it sounds almost like i damaged a rod. i'm taking it into the shop fri for them to check out exactly what happened and what all needs replaced. i think that a lock washer fell into the plenum and went completely through the system except for a little piece. so i'm curious what all got damaged. hopefully not the valves, short block, and rods. i guess i'll know friday.
IF YOU TAKE OFF THE PLENUM, BLOCK OFF THE PLENUM AND THE MANIFOLD!

also, if it is a rod that i damaged/short block. what should i replace it with? can i just get the block bored out to save $ off a new one? what kind of pistons/rods should i get. i know that the stock parts are probably the same if not more than performance ones. if you could give me some names and prices. it'll be appriciated especially since i just did over a $1000 mistake yesterday!

I dont know much about injectors and such, but are you running 93 octane w/the supercharger? B/c that would make the valves knock if you werent.

thats totaly different knock than what you would get from running a lower octane gas.....

to put it to you bluntly, if a lock washer got into your cylinder, your fked. but, this could be a sign, telling you that its time to do a rebuild. while its apart, you might aswell have them put in forged internals, pistons and a good set of rings. as far as boring out the block, im not sure, it might cost as much or more to do that than buying a new cylinder block.....

yep, i found out that the piston (if not more) is really #$#$ed. gonna need a new one (anyone have their stock ones, pm me). i'm going to see what the condition of the block is to determine if i want to bore out the cylinders.

you went with the RIPP tuner package, right?

if you are going to replace the pistons, why not go ahead and get forged pistons? yeah they might cost a little more, but thats one part you wont have to worry about anymore

it's going to cost alot to take the whole block out if i decide to bore out the cylinders and put in forged pistons. i'm seeing if the damange is minor enough to just replace what's wrong, but if it's bad enough i'll go the whole 9 yards.

i ended up getting another engine. it cost like 1500 but it only has 7k miles on it. it would cost me about 2500 to rebuild everything that was wrong on mine. but i have two engines now, so i'll be parting out everything if anyones interested. pm me if so.
