Street racing is for high-school ricers and rednecks. I'd like to think that most of us who can afford Subarus are above that. It's dangerous and stupid; Subarus are safe and reliable. They are fast, however, and fast is always preferable in a race. Street racing, though, is usually drag racing, which is terrible for your clutch and drivetrain in an AWD car. Get a Honda Civic or a Z28 if you want to street race.

dude that cars has thousands and thousands of dollars poured into it, its got like 600awhp, one MASSIVE turbo and a lot of shit to back it up
a normal wrx or sti is good for a quick everyday car, and autoxing...if you want to drag race it either get another car or just make sure you make sure the tranny/clutch is built for lots of launches

oh, so what you're telling me is, the STi is already modded to be fast...it's like...they took a WRX and mod it, and then called it STi ? I knew it was modded...but not that high.
so when you buy a STi, you don't have to mod it because it's already pretty fast
oh and I also wanted to ask if someone have a website I can watch videos of the STi running around

What I think is even funnier about that video is that all that is taking place in a construction zone. We should post this video up on a Highway Patrol forum and see if they can pull any license plates. :-)

What are you talking about? Some cars are fast out of the box. You don't have to have a modded car to have a fast car. You don't have to tell yourself the STi is "modded from the factory" so you'll think it's fast...
I don't get what's so hard to understand?

A Toyota Camry is great for street racing. When you crash, the insurance rates on the Camry will go up rather than the rates on my STi.
The STi cluthch and (very expensive) transmission start to have reliability issues at around 400 HP when you take it easy on those pieces, never mind with hard launches.
An STi set the SCCA T2 track record at Summit Point about 3 weeks ago, over similarly equipped EVOs. They're great cars, but if you do something stupid, you will find yourself WAY over your head in a hurry, and hopefully not take any innocent bystanders with you.

This kid's hopeless. Get an evo. I don't want my Subaru insurance rates going up when an imbecile juvenile recks it.

Not to mention the lives of the innocent people they normal wreck into.
initiate the street racer genocide. :grinyes:.
For some reason, that actually sounds quite reasonable.

It's sort of like natural selection--fools eleminate themselves from the gene pool, and that's what SHOULD happen. I'd only wish, like Ray said, that they wouldn't get innocent people involved in theirs quest for self destruction and extinction.

yeha I like Tf&Tf, I want a STi.
and I don't want to street race, I DIDN'T KNOW IT WAS DRAGING. I want to ROLL RACE.
i'm sorry but you have no respect for people dreams, the best thing will be to explain to newbies and not tell them to buy a civic and do like TFandTF

okay dude dont take this the wrong way. first of all there is nothing wrong with liking 2f2f. i personally think it glorifies street racing and is kinda corny but that is just my personal opinion. but when a newb comes onto a forum and asks about "street racing" an sti, what are we supposed to think. the first thing that came to my mind was: another ricer and another destroyed scooby. first impressions are the most important and by coming onto this forum and saying what you said, you have established yourself as a immature ricer. once again only my :2cents:

well, i'm making spelling errors...english isn't my 1st language so my learning still in progress
being sensitive mean you're not mature ?
and huh, like I said before, I didn't know street racing was standing for draging. i'm just planing to cruise around and roll race when I have the oportunity...and huh, i'm trying to not be a ricer...I like the STi like it is, but I wasn't sure about the performance :)

From a stand or from a roll, drag racing is still drag racing, and any sort of racing on public roads is illegal.
If you want to race and do so in a legit fashion, take it to the track, don't put innocent lives at risk for your personal little adrenaline rush. :loser:

You might want to check out the Darwin Awards (http://www.darwinawards.com/). I don't believe in evolution, but I enjoy (with a guilty conscience) the crazy stories of how people die due to their own stupidity.
As far as street racing goes, I can understand the appeal, and I'm a "responsible 25 year old". I'd never actively search out a race, but I don't have a problem with the occasional burst of speed for fun, once in a while, in absolutely safe conditions.
I admit, my usual cruising speed on a 65 MPH highway is 80 MPH, sometimes even getting up to 90. I know I'm speeding and I probably shouldin't, but I do think I'm a safe driver and do slow down when conditions degrade.
I know my opinion is not the 100% legal and safe way, but I'm just being honest, I guess.
Of course, some of you may laugh at my 5 MPH encounter with the curb in the snow, and yes, that was indeed stupidity (and learning respect for my new car).

That was a funny site--I enjoyed it. All street racers that die deserve to have the Darwin Award.

No, the Darwin Award is for people who come up with *creative* ways to remove themselves from the gene pool. Street racing is the exact opposite of creative.
