Timing 2.2L

I have a 1996 Extended Cab 2.2L Sonoma, 5-speed. Since replacing the clutch the engine pops on acceleration and I have lost 2 to 3 mph. Found a couple of vacuum lines with tears, but have been told that this could be a timing problem. My question is how to time this vehicle as it is electronic with no distributor. Also, could this be an ECM problem?

You can't time it.

Do a complete tuneup.
