Hello,

My Canadian rodeo 2001 is getting out of warranty ( 55 k miles) and I 'm about to take care of it myself.

I haul a trailer tent (2000 pounds) 2k miles per summer, usually on mountain roads, we have pretty cold winter up to -30F (4-5 months using 4x4 praticly all the time) and I usually do 15k miles per year

What would be the preventive work you would suggest me to do on it ?

thanks

Philippe

1. I would flush the transmission yearly (before the towing season). Due to the cold climate I would not recommend a tranny cooler (and you are only towing 2000lbs).

2. Use synthetic oil (mobile 1 or the likes) year around due to the cold climate (changing at 3-4K).

3. I personally add a half can of sea foam before I change my oil (add and then take it for a 20 minute drive and then change the oil ASAP, while it is good and hot).

4. Pull your PVC valve at each oil change AND before you tow and give it a couple sprays of carb cleaner. I have permitly removed the plastic (V6) engine cover so i have easy access to the PCV. I also, spray my PCV out about every 1k.

5. Clean the EGR and EGR port yearly.

6. After that it is up to you, Plugs every 50K, fuel filter 30K, S-belt 35K, Rear/front diffy oil 30k, Bleed brakes (?) 50k, Power steering flush (30K; I do this yearly), H20 30k (I do this yearly), Air filter (yearly) .......
