I've been having nightmares...Waking up scared sh*tless

Twice, in two days in a row, I've woken up at 6am, and this morning, 4:50am from a nightmare.

This is the first time I can ever recall in mt 19 year life that I've woken up from a dream as bad as these.

The scary part is, they're so vivid.

The first one; I was at uni with a mate from work (who doesn't even go to uni) and we were walking around and we see Sarah from work, so we decide "lets go say hi", so we're walking over coming in from her left, or right, and she just gets a gun out and shoots him thinking he's someone else or whatever.
Conveniently enough, where the arts building is (we were outside it when James got shot) there was a hospital...rrriigghhttt..So we walk in to find it empty but a bunch of workers sitting in a circle on those wheelie chair things right, and I'm standing there with James, and I say "Alright fuck the lot of you" cause they were ignoring us, then all of a sudden, the entrance doors burst wide open, it's a mid-40's ethnic woman with long black hair, and she's carrying a gun.

She shoots and kills everyone in the room (about 5, maybe 6) and I run off into the nearest room, to find it completely empty, no furnature at all, and there are two doors, one opposite me and to the right, I run to the right, and there she is runing towards me through this corrador, so I go back into the door and chose the other door, I hide in there, she comes in and shoots me in the face, and I die, I wake up, it's 6am

Oh, it gets worse.

Last night, I had a vivid dream that made me wake up at exactly 4:50am, and I was scared shitless.

I was home, with my mum, my grandpa', and my brother, we were upstairs (t.v room and lounge rooom w/ computer - single room) right, and they go downstairs, next thing I know I'm possessed by satan, and I'm trying to get rid of him, my brother comes up and I'm full-blown levitating and he's like "dude, wtf are you doing up there", then mum and my brother are praying and shit (can't remember if Grandpa was there or not) and I slowly move down, and...they basically performed a exorcist...I can remember looking out the window over the pool/back yard and reciting the "our farther" prayer.

I feel I'm missing some parts out, but two nights in a row I've woken up like this, and I can remember everything! This has never happened before...

I hope it doesn't happen again today....

One thing you have to remember is, it's just a dream. Some people have been able to take control of there dreams. Next time your having a nightmare try to turn the cards in your favor. Have fun with it. Naked girls on a beach... Oh yeah. Main thing is, it's not real so don't get all worked up.

If a man pops into your dreams and claims his name is freddy, you might have a problem.

Otherwise stop smoking and drinking so much.

I don't smoke, and I don't drink much. I'm going to have a beer tonight, but that's it.

Does anyone else have this problem? The nightmare problem I mean, like, who else wakes up two nights in a row?

The only times I had problems with vivid dreams/nightmares is when I was taking sleeping pills. Melatonin especially, every time I would take it I would have random, vivid dreams.

Maybe you've been eating something before bed that you don't realize is affecting you. :dunno:

I had the same thing in my early 20's, it went away after a few weeks. Diet can do it, and also if you have something bugging you it can enter your dreams as your subconscious works to solve the problem (like Moppi--I mean Freddy)

I remember having some really bad nightmares for several days straight a couple of years ago.

The dream i remember though is one i had about 10 years ago. I was alone on a rollercoaster ride, on a nice sunny day, when all of a sudden it accelerates and goes into a cave. The rollercoast hits something on the tracksand immediately grinds to a halt. I fly out of my seat, into a lake (hahahah), and before i hit the water a shark pops out of the water and swallows me whole. That's when i wake up :lol2:

let's see what your degree in psychology makes of that :D

Ummm, O crap. Erm, uh, it was your subconscious dealing with something you were dealing with during your conscious times? ?

i used to have this vivid dream about 3 times a month. Im laying in my bed sleeping and i get this feeling at first that a giant spider is dropping down onto my face from the ceiling fan. Id open my eyes and id swear i could see it, id jump out of bed turn on the light and frantically try squishing it on the bed. After about 30 seconds i would realize i was only dreaming. But everytime my heart would be beating like i just ran a marathon. Id be all shaky. That was horrible.

Dude, it's stress. I've been doing the SAME thing lately, except over a period of weeks instead of days. The past 3.5 weeks have been TERRIBLE. It would start off with things like this: There's been a few times I've been driving down a street and just somehow I 'envisioned' something running at me or across the road or something and I'd swerve. Hard. Or brake hard. Freaks any passenger out hardcore.

Then I'm sleeping like complete shit. I woke up at 4:15 the other night and didn't get ANY sleep until 7. I had to wake up at 7:30. I woke up because there was sheept metal in the back porch by my room that kept banging on the ground. Then I heard all sorts of wierd noises. Freaked me out. I could have SWORN somebody was in the kitchen, so I grab my bat and come barging out. NOTHING. I could hear people talking but there wasn't shit. Kinda had my girlfriend worried too.

Then the other night I dreamed there was these octagonal rooms with wierd lights and it was kind of hazy but there were these THINGS running around and people shooting at them. I'm just kind of walking like it's surreal, but it's not. By the way, I don't play video games. At ALL. And I haven't watched Alien in MONTHS. ;) And then it just flips to me sitting there just kind of slumped on a crate in the middle of the room and I'm holding a gun. Some guy is screaming at me, bloody next to me and I can barely hear him. My ears are ringing like hell. Then these things run into the room and instead of shooting them I stick the gun under my chin and shoot myself. Everything went black and I just LOST IT. I mean in my sleep just "OH MY GOD!! oh... my god. Did I kill myself? What was I thinking!!? OH MY GOD PLEASE BE A DREAM. I woke up kicking and threw my arms and woke my g/f up. I was just covered in cold sweat and was all disoriented and shit. Didn't know what was happening, where the gun was, if I even OWNED a gun, where I was. It took me a few minutes to settle down and I wouldn't tell her what happened for like a week. I didn't watch any monster movies or ANYTHING like that. NOTHING that would have triggered this. And it wasn't like something I saw in a film anyways. I had one more but it's not worth describing.

Doc says it's diet (strict diet of SOME form of pizza, 2 times a day) and stress. Which makes sense since I'm oober stresssed out. I'd say same for you too.

hmmm, lets see.

dream section:I was alone on a rollercoaster ride, on a nice sunny day,
my translation: Rollercoaster = life, single, sunny day = all is well, happy
my translation: you are single, enjoying life and are generally happy.

dream sequence: when all of a sudden it accelerates and goes into a cave.
normal translation: life is taking an unexpected turn, you enter a dark, crazy place
my translation: your single life is fun but you start dating

dream sequence:The rollercoast hits something on the tracksand immediately grinds to a halt.
normal translation: your life encounters an obstacle in its life path, bringing your normal routine to a halt.
my translation: you encounter your life partner, stopping you dead in your tracks.

dream sequence: I fly out of my seat, into a lake (hahahah),
normal translation: change of status, smooth or choppy (depending on season)
my translation: marriage, good or bad depending on the moods

dream sequence: and before i hit the water a shark pops out of the water and swallows me whole.
normal translation: dangerous encounters, reduced to nothing
my translation: you meet your mother-in-law.

trust me I know, I had the same dream and I'm living it.

Davo, I'm not an expert, but I've read some stuff on what dreams mean based upon what your subconcious creates them as - I find the shit interesting - and this is kind of what I can tell you your dream might be hinting at.

The gun thing actually is a form of sexuality. Your mind picks up shit you don't even know, and if someone does something like shooting a gun at you or attacks you in a dream, it actually can mean they're attracted to you. Your mind may pick up signals from them in real life that indicates this, but you won't even know it. In the case where Sarah shoots your mate, it may even mean she has a thing for him.

The fact that you were running from a terror could mean that there is something that is getting to you lately - an issue that is messing with your life. Running from it, and then being killed by it, is a sure sign that whatever it is that is bugging you needs to be confronted. Doors in dreams stand for different paths, or choices that you can make. You need to chose the right one. If you have a dilemna as of late, you need to stop avoiding it, and confront it and solve it.

The devil thing most likely means that you're dealing with or approaching an obstacle - something that is making things hard for you. You fighting him means that you are trying to overcome it - and your family helping you out by excorcising you means that your family will help you past it and support you.

I hope I don't sound like some vodoo-flake. I'm not supersticious or anything - this is all stuff your subconcious mind picks up, and then puts into dreams. I hope that helped a little. Good luck man.

Your post made me really, really think, hear me out;

...My nan is on her death bed unless the doc performs a risky operation for heart valve replacement, if he can't do it she has till xmas *cries*

My boss has been screwing us over at work, and I tried to ask ppl about it and I nearly got fired from him to keep my mouth shut and it stressed me out seriously. He lectured me for like an hour about random bull shit, blaming all us drivers (of teh pizza world) for loss of sales and shit, accusing us of stealing drinks, and food, and crap like that, he not once answered my original question (which was why does he not pay us award wages?) he avoided it completly.

I didn't have a bad dream last night, actually I had a weird dream, I can't remember it now, but I didn't wake up, but when I did I was thinking about it.

Also, My mate liked Sarah for heaps long, but not anymore, and I don't think they like each other "that way", sarah never did, she told me, she has a bf now.

Thanks for the translation, it all makes sense now.

I have been stressed out so much lately because of my c*nt of a boss.

Also, Cyprus, you had pizza twice a day? Man that shit's not good for you, take my word for it, I work for a pizza place, they say you shouldn't eat it more than once a week, I say you shouldn't eat it more than once amonth, you should see the dough when we make it, that shit rises man! That dream you had is fucked-up.

Not to get off topic, but whats wrong with pizza and the pizza dough. I thought I read somewhere that it isn't bad to eat on a constant basis. Oh well, back on topic. Ridenour did a very good analysis of the dream.

I dont think your dreams mean anything at all, I think youve finally just completely lost your mind. Do what I did when I finally lost it, just roll with it. Embrace your insanity, its pretty fun anyway.

Has anyone here been half asleep an dreamt that they are falling, then right before they hit the ground, jumped and woke up?

Apparently when people die in their sleep, they have a similar dream but instead of waking up, they stay asleep and die in real life when they are killed in the dream.

I don't know about anyone else, but I have never been killed in my sleep and not woken up just before, or as it happened...

You know thats not the first time I've heard that. But come on, how can you prove it. What, the dead come back and specifically tell us that they died dreaming of falling and getting killed? Me no think so.

Just classify it under the X Files.

I was thinking the same thing, similar to asking someone to jump off a bridge and tell us if it hurts....

But I suppose people that have nearly died in hospital, then been brought back to life might experiance this, it all doesn't really matter I suppose, not like we are really gonna care when it comes time to find out.

I can understand if it is just a dream. Ok, heres the deal sometimes when I am trying to sleep, I will hear a buzzing type noise that steadly gets louder. Sometimes it will feel as if someone has bumped the bed. When I finaly get to sleep I will have terrable dreams. Dreams of torture, or a loved one killed. I will suddleny wake up and it feels as if the bed is rocking or shaking. When I open my eyes there is a pair of evil looking eyes looking at me. It will go on for about 10 min. or so before it disappers. If I have a dream of a loved one dying 90% of the time someone I know really dies within a few weeks. How would we explain this, Mr degree in Psychology. Really I want to know. I have tried to figure it out for years now.

I agree, it's stress, I would have messed up dreams also, but when I look at the time it happened, I was stressed out.

My last nightmare felt so real, In my room, I couldn't fall asleep, and kept waking up. Finally I felt like I couldn't breath, and one of pillows was on my face, and I couldn't get it off. Woke up a few times, and swear somone came into my room, I just thought it was my uncle but was too tired to look. Throughout that night, I didn't know what was a dream and what was real, because It all felt so real. I never did ask my uncle if he came into my room, but I know I was stresed out at that time, and havn't had a problem since.
