Setting up winch switches

Right so this is a set of switches for a winch on the front of a truck. It was somebodies home made job or something but I need to get it working again.

The two wires go to either end of a thee position switch (left, neutral and right).

The red V on the bottom of each switch is just a direct connection from one threaded pole to the other.

The yellow pieces are jumpers that came with the unit.

The green V is the switch part, when it gets an input from the three way it closes and allows current to flow from pole to pole.

There is no connection between the left and right poles on top and the left and right poles on the bottom (thats why the jumpers down each side were included apparently).

It's all grounded to the metal plate they are mounted on (which is in turn grounded to the chassis).

Power is off two large cables from the engine.

The winch motor just has two threaded poles to connect to.

The objective is to hook this up in such a fashion that when you hit the three way switch one way the winch turns and when you hit the three way on the otherside the winch turns in reverse (duh).

It was working before it was taken off but I don't know how it was hooked up. The only information I have is in the picture up there. I don't know if I explained it in anyway that makes sense but if you figure out something I didn't, sharing would be appreciated.
