New Hub?

So I was told I need a new hub, but how important is it? Is it something that can be done later or is it something that has to be done NOW? Also what kind of prices am I looking at?

Who told you that you needed a new hub? If they did, it was most likely because you have a bad wheel bearing - which is part of the entire hub assembly, and must be purchased as a whole. To answer your question, it depends on the severity of the bad bearing. Do you hear a throbbing rumble at different speeds? Depending on how load it is / if you can feel it, you may be able to wait a while. Eventually, if left unfixed, a bad bearing would overheat and seize, but you would have plenty of warning before this - the noises would keep getting louder and louder. So if it isn't too loud, you could deffinately wait a while. All 4 of the bearings on my 01 Grand Am were bad, and I drove for several months before changing them. The price for a hub assembly will run you 150 to 250 dollars. Don't buy it at a dealer - they charge usually 300 to 350 $.

Thanks. Well aside from my lights coming on periodically, there is no real noticable thing. The only thing that I have noticed is different is sometimes my ABS will kick in when braking on dry roads and that is about it.

The Only Thing Bad Is Gm Decided To Incorperate The Abs Sensor In With The Bearing On Most Of These Cars, That Is Why Bearing Is Priced This High.

Yeh that's true. The ABS / wheel speed sensor is all part of the hub assembly, which sucks - cause the whole thing must be replaced in order to fix the sensor. :( And muffin, it sounds like you have bad sensor(s).
