Here's a quick pick of the progress so far of my latest kit, the Seat Cordoba WRC from the Network Q Rally of Great Britain 1998. The kit is a white metal kit made by Racing 43. At the moment I am waiting for them to sent me a decal set for the kit then I can progress further, but until then here's a pic to keep you lot happy!

Warren,
The colour is an automotive colour, as per the instructions it is Fiat Taxi Yellow, it's a really rich yellow - very pleased so far.

Steve, where did you get the Racing43 kit? Was it expensive (I'm sure it was  ;)) You wouldn't happen to know prices for their 1/43 Corolla kits, would you?

Excited now, after waiting for a couple of weeks the decals came today so I can carry on now.
Ales,
I got the kit from a guy who just happened to have one in stock in the U.K. I can't rememnber exactly how much it cost around fifty pounds I think. Here's the link to their web site: http://www.racing43.com/
With the decals they sent a catalogue and price list, they do several different versions of the Corolla in 1/43rd scale, works versions from 1997,1998 and 1999 as well as a Marlboro coloured version and a couple sponsored by Esso. From what I can make of the price list (I can't read Italian, I'll have to ask Dan next time he's over) all the 1/43rd scale metal kits cost 38.00 Euro's.
Gotta go, the decals are calling me.

Here's the latest progress pic, decals are now on, a couple of coats of laquer and the grills and intercooler/radiator in place. The decals went on well, the only thing spoiling it is that the white of the number plates is not very thick and shows the blue decal behind them. Just waiting for the laquer to harden before cutting and polishing then windows and finishing touches to be added.

It's a 1/24th scale white metal kit made by Racing 43 of Italy.
Warren, 'cause I always use gloss laquer to protect the decals I always leave window rubbers etc. until after 'cause they need to be semi-gloss black.

Steve, so what do u use to protect the decals? Halfords laquer? How do u apply it so as not to damage the decals?

So the clear is enough to protect the decals form the masking tape? Very interesting! Solves my dillemma. Thanks for the tip!

Halfords laquer is what I use, I did used to have trouble with it crazing the decals slightly, but Dan found that using Halfords white plastic primer instead of the normal grey primer seems to cure the problem (so far) as long as there is no air under the decals.

It's ok to use plastic primer on metal kits?

This is the first metal kit that I have done and haven't really had any problems yet.

O.K. the kit is now finished and another pleasing result to complete my collection of works entered rally cars from the 1998 World Rally Championship (Mitsubishi Lancer Evo V, Subaru Impreza, Ford Escort WRC, Toyota Corolla and now the Seat Cordoba). No major problems with the final assembly except in response to ales' earlier question, this time the laquer was not enough to protect the decals when masking for the window rubbers, on the first one I did part of the Seat logo on the side came off with the masking tape - ooops! Luckily I had a spare decal set so I just trimmed away the damaged decal and replaced it, you can't really tell at all, the rest of the rubbers were painted by hand!
Here's a couple of pic's, see what you think.

Lovely work as usual, Steve, thumbs up!
Guess I won't be painting the rubber after the decals afterall :) Sorry for your decal, but glad it came out well in the end. You just "happened" to have a spare decal set? ;)

The kit that I bought was the 1999 Monte Carlo version so I could get the larger tarmac wheels plus it was the only one the guy had in at the time, I got Racing 43 to send me a decal set for the 1998 RAC rally which they did free of charge :D , the colour scheme was pretty similar so I had a spare decal for the part that tore, thankfully.

Looks superb! One annoying thing about the decals is that the white number squares are too thin - obviously not your fault! I had the same thing on my Maxi Megane, its worth investing in a white decal sheet for this and put a square in place before the kit decal.
Anyway top job, and by the way are u going the East Midlands model show on sunday?

The description in the gallery tells briefly of how well the kit goes together, quality was not too bad but some parts didn't fit that well (rollcage especially I seem to remember) but the body and decals were very good and that is obviously the most important part, I think I would only buy another of their kits though if they produced something that I REALLY wanted, they don't do that many 1/24th kits though, most are 1/43rd scale and all are of rally cars.
