ya, well have to wait until theyre all out, stats wise i know nuthin about the supra and the vette should be top dawg outta those three with the skyline right behind and the cobra comin in third (based just on hp/tq to weight) and im guessin handling will be a toss up between the vette and skyline, cobra comin in third again also the only ones whose hp/tq numbers are confirmed is the vette, the cobra and skyline are still just conepts so... i will say the cobra is the best looking imo and i would buy it over the other 2 cause itll cost way less.

I'd wait until the cars come out or until we have official specs before we do this comparison. Also, it's the Infiniti GT-R, not the Infinity Skyline GT-R. The name "Skyline" is nowhere on the car.

yeah but we all know its based on the skyline so why not call it that

The Cobra is not a concept and is around 90% correct on what will come out next year.

Anyway, I'd probably take the Cobra with the ZO6 in a very close second.

I also thought I'd share what Supra fans will not want to hear this. You knows things aren't going good when you hear "hybrid" and "new Supra" in the same sentence.

You forgot the 2007 Mazda RX-7.:p

Anyway I would take a production version of the Subaru B11S, just to be unique and piss everybody off.

And then perhaps proceed to get an aftermarket grill.

No, we have no idea if it'll be based on the Skyline or not. The past GT-R's were night and day compared to the regular Skylines, so I doubt this one will be either. Besides, Nissan has officially stated that they are seperating the GT-R name from the Skyline name, so there's no need to call it a Skyline.

there have been reports of two cars seen testing from toyota.
one is what looks like (under cladding) a gt/coupe car in the vein of a supra.
the other car (the supposed hybrid experiment) is what looks to be a smaller 2 seater coupe car (MR-S sized).
actual details of what's driving them are sketchy and they seem to be holding it very close to their chest.
even the shapes seen under cladding aren't really to be taken seriously yet as chances are they're just dummy mules to test set-up.
no one even knows if they're going to use the supra name again.

for the first car, i've heard everything from the usual twin turbo V6, to a V8 to a V10.
for the second, it's kinda been confirmed as being a hybrid but the exact coniguration is unknown.

The supra is supposed to have a V10. Supposedly based on the F1 engines. If it is hybrid, it's in addition to the V10, which means instant torque. That's definetely my choice.

The only cars that the companies have really admitted to making are the Z06 and the Shelby Mustang GT500. There is absolutely no concrete data on the GT-R or a mk. V Supra, only rumors. Maybe I'm wrong on this. It would be awesome if someone could post a press release prooving me wrong, as I would like to see a new Supra.

The GT500 and the Z06 aren't really the kind of car I like driving, however there is going to be a 400hp V8 BMW M3 in '07, so my vote goes to that. :) ///M Power

The 2007 Infiniti GT-R is confirmed, but I'm too lazy to dig up one of the many articles confirming it. The new Supra and RX-7 are purely rumors; however, there is fairly strong evidence to support that Toyota will bring back a RWD sports car. Some speculation says it will use the Supra name, some speculation says it will use the Trueno name (thanks to Initial D), some say it will have a completely new name.

like i said, i've only ever heard rumours and seen one pic of a heavily clad car that people say was from toyota out on testing.

Thanks for the info, so there IS a sports car project by Toyota...

You might be referring to a new car being introduced by Toyota soon to compete against both the EVO and STi known as the Sportivo (NOT Camry Sportivo). It comes with stock scissor doors and is AWD. It may possibly be the replacement of the now aging MKIV Supras. As for the Supra, it was officially discontinued from production in 2002.

C/D had an article about a new Toyota supercar, that called it "son of supra" yeah I didnt think that was funny either...Its expected to have the F1 inspired V10...but they don't plan to release it until their F1 results improve

actually, it's a bit hazy as to whether it's going to be toyota or lexus.
i seem to have a vague memory about something called TF-A of something similar, which is the 'supra replacement' and the supposed V10 car.

i have no idea about any EVO type rival car.

one more thing, before this gets too far, no road car engine is ever going to be anything like a F1 engine.
the only similarities are probably going to be cylinder count and maybe the bottom of the (i.e M5).

This "2007 Supra" is not going to be an expensive ricer. It's gonna be a Japanese Ferrari alternative. The back of it has the tailpipes of the Lexus LF-A concept (or somthing like that). A supposed hybrid V10 engine.

How do you know this "2007 Supra" won't be sold in the states as the Lexus LF-A, because from articles I have read and even the authors' impressions Toyota is definitely considering to produce this. Then again marketing wise, the Supra name is whole lot more iconic and from a marketing angle seem like a better idea, which would if not make it sell better would make it gain a whole lot of notoriety. And they could still sell the Supra under Lexus, since Nissan's new GTR will be sold under Infiniti in the US.

Btw, that spy pic is probably of the LF-A, or perhaps the LF-A being tested there has the project name of being called the Supra, who knows.

not exactly the same thing....
for nissan, the GT-R was previously the top end model of the skyline range, hence the old name of Skyline GT-R.
this time around, the word is that it isgoing to be called just GT-R with no skyline tag.
how relevant this is concerning what's under the skin i have no idea but in terms of (world) markets it means that it is easier (to a certain extent) to detach the GT-R name from skyline and nissan.

the supra, on the other hand, is without doubt a toyota car.
if they end up calling it a supra, it woudn't make sense to sell it under the lexus brand.
besides, the main marketing link is with the F1 team.
if they sell it as a lexus, that link would be more tenous than it already is.... unless of course, they re-brand their F1 team as Lexus, which is another rumour....
