how to ident Dana 35 or 44

I have a 1987 vette, what do I look for or how can I tell what type of dana rear I have?

Theres probably an RPO code for it. Im thinking its a 36. But heres a website of a gguy who did the swap. You can tell what rear end you have by the brace supports.

All the auto C4's came with the Dana 36. All manual C4's came with the D44. It is very simple to convert from a D36 to a D4 so somebody could have swapped out yours before you got the car. Here's a picture of the back of a d44 with the case bolts circled. The d36 has a different bolt pattern from the d36. If you have a auto car look very closely at the back of the diff and see if your bolt pattern matches this. I put the d44 in my car and it wasn't hard at all. Cost me $1000 for a used d44 tho.
