will this intercooler support over 600hp? 24" wide, 12" tall, 3" thick.

Sounds big enough, is it bar and plate? I just bought one on ebay, bar and plate, 12X24, 4 inches thick! They said it would hold like 7 or 8 hundred hp. Probably running it on my t25 for now just to see what happens, and have the intercooler upgrade out of the way :) I think the one your looking at will do fine, but ask kevin just to be sure :)

a fmic on a t25 isnt too smart. your gonna lag like mad with it and it wont give you any more power since the t25 doesnt have enough kick to heatsoak the smic.

T-25 and more lag don't really mix well :) Even with a big ass intercooler like that, that small ass turbo is still going to have the insta-spool characteristics. It may add 200 or so rpm to reach full boost, but you're still right at 3000 rpms

Installing a larger turbo in the future is going to need a different lower intercooler pipe. Why install such a large intercooler on the T25 instead of waiting a month?

i'm not running the t-25.....it's a FULLY built motor and i'm going to be running the SBR GT-35.

Thanks for backin me up :) I dont think lag is possible on a t25

Actually I agree with kevin's theory of a fmic with a t25. The instant spool of a t25 will only fill a large intercooler quicker than a larger turbo wich may take a little longer to spool. Now a big fmic will make a laggy turbo fill more laggy because it takes longer to spool the bigger turbo before you can begin to fill the intercooler :)

Good question joe, I understand what your saying, I only wish my turbo upgrade was next month lol. I am saving up for supporting mods before the turbo upgrade. Actually I think the elbow for the t25 won't be much of a hassle, And when I do upgrade my turbo all I need to do to hook it to my fmic is cut and connect to which ever turbo Im running.

I am actually curious to see the performance gains that can be achieved by adding it, in my opinion a nice fmic cant hurt :) Should give me a few more hp also, cooler air is always better  I should be starting the project next week or so, I'll keep you guys updated and post some pics.

Sorry gt thompson didn't mean to hijack your post lol. So does anyone know anything about the fmic he is asking about?

Yeah i figured you wern't lol. Might I suggest a sbr core ? They have some nice kits as well.

well if i can get that GReddy for about $300....i'd rather do that and save the $500 than buying one from SBR. this way i'll be getting the GReddy performance and style....without the GReddy price. If I was looking into a whole kit, I would go with the SBR kit, but if I can get this for a good price, I'd be kickin myself next week if I passed it up.

That is not a greddy core. Someone just took an ebay intercooler core and spray painted GReddy on it. Greddy doesnt make a Bar and plate core like that one. Also all of their intercoolers have the long route piping that goes across the front of the intercooler. Plus the way they painted it, the intercooler is upside down for our cars anyways.

To add to my FMIC theory... They are less necessary on large turbos than they are on small turbos, since small turbos make more heat at the same airflow/PR. But its a minor effect, since intercooler efficiency is 10 thousand times more important than turbo efficiency. To make the point, if the FMIC was 100% efficient (impossible) compressor efficiency wouldn't matter at all ;) With a more realistic 80% or so, any difference in temps from turbo efficnecy are cut down by that amount (roughly). But this is borderline rambling. My point is I wouldnt hesitate to put a FMIC on a T25, but I never tried it when I ran the t25.

thats the same E-bay seller that has the stroker kit i've been looking at but to scared to spend $899 on!

soo....i still have an unanswered question. would it be big enough to support about 600 hp. i think with the GT-35 at 30psi, it will put out around 600hp, and that's what i'm aiming for.

Yes.

Its not about size, its about its ability to remove heat from the charge air. No possible way to get that info from pics or dimensions. But yes, ICs with similar dimensions have supported 600 hp. I like to go as thick as possible, about 3.5", since adding thickness reduces pressure drop.
