for all you guys with 3:73/4:10/4:56 or whatever you may have, i want to know what mph you shift at if you have a manual, preferably lt1 but im curious as to all, like what mph you shift from 1st to 2nd (im asking because i heard with 4:10's you go to 2nd gear at about 20 mph?...), 2nd to 3rd etc. and also what rpm you are at when traveling 70 mph in 6th gear on the highway. thanks alot!!

I have 3.43's in my 6 speed.
End of first....Around 45.
End of second....Around 72.
End of third....Around 105.

6th gear will go up to 90MPH before crossing 2,000 RPM's.
I wouldn't consider 4.56 gears unless you are a track only car. 4.11's are streetable with an M6 car. You lose about 500-600 RPM's on the highway, so instead of 1,800 in 6th going 80, it is 2,400.

isn't that the gear that came stock?
i need to talk to someone with 4:10's

3.23's are great for me personally I drive on the freeway alot and about 70-73mph is 2200-2400rpms depending on temp and wind etc. They are sporty too. If you dont hit the fereway too often check up some 3.42's imo. I don't remember shift points. I'll check it next time I hit the freeway.

Here is a formula and u can figure it all out
(rearend gear) x (speed) x (tranny gear ratio) x (336)/ (tire heigth)=RPM
ex
4.10 x 70 x .5(6th gear)x 336 / 25.5 = 1890.8rpms now it wont be exactly that cause ur stock tach is usually a lil bit off and other factors like wind and such but that is really damn close.

6th gear around 75 MPH will be 2300-2400 RPM's, roughly. That is with a 4.10. I posted that in my post.

yeah that sounds more like it, i know with 4:10s it will be well over 2000 at 70 and thats kind of a drawback to me, but im not sure. does it seem to bother you guys much?

Im cruising about 2500rpm with mine its not a problem to me. I went from 3.23-3.73 and the gas mileage didn't really change.

I am only going to jump from the stock 3.42's to the 3.73's. Well, once I get the new rear.

Why such a small jump? I mean 3.42's are prolly one of the best all around gears. If ur not gonna go any bigger than 3.73's i wouldn't change at all. I didn't go with 3.42's just cause it would have been to small of a change for all the money i spent.

With the power I will be making, the 3.73 will be perfect. 3.42 is a little too tall.
