What different kinds of primers are there? Does the type of primer u should use vary on the color ur gonna use? Can someone plze post the basics of primer?

Im going to paint my ITR blk so what kind of primer should i use?

All i use is Tamiya White as this is by far the best i have used. Hear of to many horror stories from people that use other types.
I use white all the time, no matter what the final coat will be.

2-3 coats will be plenty when doing the body.
Nice light even coats allowing plenty off drying time between coats.
I dont bother to sand the primmer like other's do....dont really see the point in it

I can see why you don't sand your primer, as tamiya white goes on with virtually no texture! :)

Anyway, for red, white, yellow, and other bright colors the color of the primer will affect the level of brightness of the color. Use white for the best brightness and black for the darkest, the color of the primer doesnt matter when you're using dark colors like black or grey or dark blue.

about primer....are they the base color? so if I plan to spray my model pearl black...I must use a primer (which is a base color ) black issit?
