Engine Management Systems

I was just wondering about what kind of engine management system to use on a GM 3.8L (any year). I was looking into the Haltech E6GMX, and the Accel DFI gen7. Are these good for this application, or which systems are better?
I'm gonna be swapping the engine anyways, so i might as well use an after market, programable ECU...right?
