gauges/interior lights dont work

i have 87 xj, and recently the gauges and interior lights don't work a long with the tail lights when you don't apply the break. i put in a 10 amp fuse what it requires but it blows it. so i tried a 30 and still blows it? anyone have any suggestions? i would really appreciate it so i can drive at night!

Well, the fuse blowing indicates a short circuit somewhere. Try removing the bulbs from the tail lights and dome lights and see if the fuse holds.

the dome lights and the lights for the gauges are controlled by the headlight switch, it could be shorting out, also the park lights as well.
