Or the american version of that car.
Again this one is more loose.
I have been looking at marker drawings to get a feel
for how to do these. I did it with a wacom in photoshop.
Left out the wheels because they are too hard. And i'm too lazy.

Cool! How did you do the line drawing? is it scanned from a sketch on paper or done digitally as well?

Thanks for the reply Alex!
I used a wacom for that too.
I think it's really cool to be able to hit undo.
They feel bad at first but I like it better than inking
with a real pen now. :)

Looks great! How did you do it? Did you trace it? I have a wacom since 2 weeks now and I'd like to try that too.

It's an Exige, btw.

Yep i traced the contour of the car. :)

Hello, my name is grant and I have been a tracer for ten years. :) :iceslolan

I inked the car from a highres pic. Then took it to ps to do the airbrushing.

What kind of wacom did you get? They are really cool! I hated them at first but learned to love em.

I think it is an elise repackaged with a new skin and toyota engine to sell to americans. Kind of like an integra isa civic. I am probably wrong though.

There is a really good book by david hockney about tracing
in art history. He thinks that tracing started with the invention of realistic art. His book is a really cool and heated topic on many art boards. Whatit did for me is take some of the shame outta tracing.

Knightvision you rock. :)

Thanks.

I've got a Wacom volito2.

I also use it instead of a mouse to get into it. It's hard at the beginning. But for photoshop it's genius. It's the smallest size available but it works. (the pen is as long as the diagonal of the pad area)

What tool did you use for tracing?

How big is your pad?

Just tried one. I rushed it and it looks whack but I can see the potential now.

I like it! Cool S-7. :sunglasse
The nice part about a pad is that it lets you copy the way a pen or brush works. You can turn the stylus like a pen or press harder like a brush to vary your line weight. I have a small intuos and graphire - both 4 by 5 . I am not sure why but the intuos is much more sensitive to pen pressure and lets me get a smoother line and gradient. :) I don't recognize the volito. Must be a european model. Looks cool though.

The thing that took me a while to learn is how to make a steady stroke
from thin to thick to thin. When I am drawing, I might hit redo about 8 times on one stroke until it looks right. It takes a long time to finish but I bet I will get faster. I wnow that using it as your mouse is a great way to get a feel for it.

When outlining the car, I use the penciltool in ps and get really close to the photo with the magnifier. I also know some people who ink in illustrator using
the brush tool. But I suck at AI.

Thanks for your help!

the volito is the smallest and therefore most cheap wacom pad. The only one I was able to afford...

The cool thing about wacoms is that all of them are good. And the smaller they are the easier they are to use. The really big expensive ones only make your arm tired.
