HAHA! It's funny you ask this... I just got my truck a month ago and mine also had ventshades on front and back windows. All you gotta do to get em off is pull... the double sided tape that holds them on is a different story. I used a lot of Goo Gone and a lot of elbow grease to get the tape off. The plastic shades are easy to remove tho, just pull; it's only tape holding them on.

If your vehicle is like mine, the ventshades indicate one thing: a smoker used to own your truck! I have since (after removing the ventshades) been combating the faint smoke odor in my truck. You could see where there had been some ashes around the windows in my truck, but strangely enough, the ashtray had never been used...

Yeah I've been trying to get that Smokers smell out of my truck for a while now too. I think this summer I might do the wet wash and then toss in some baking soda to dry it up then a few days later vacuum it out. Apparently, that works...
As for the Vent shades. Perhaps a heat gun on LOW as you take the VentShade off may help to pull some of the adhesive off. The other thought is to email 3M first before you do so. They may be able to suggest a way to remove them easier or perhaps even the Ventshade company....
Just my :2cents: ..

mine are just about comming off.... i put them on last spring, they were fine all last summer, an now that we had a few hot days here the rear shades are really loose. I want to take off the rear ones because they are ugly, and replace the fronts with some "in chanel" shades.

I'd get rid of my Bugflector II off of my hood, also, but some idiot installed it wrong and it has rubbed a lot of paint off my hood.

Hey Nigel, my truck looks exactly like yours, same color and everything...I ended up breaking the ventshades off so now I got the back part to get off...I've heard everything from using a blow dryer to using goo gone or tar remover...

yea, i used a blow dryer and goo-gone to take off all my badges...they were a bitch, ALOT of elbow grease. I dont think these window shades will take that long. Like I said, the tape is starting to come off already anyway.

Yeah I've been trying to get that Smokers smell out of my truck for a while now too.
As an ex-smoker, I can tell you the BEST thing to get the smell out is
Clorox Freshcare : http://freshcare.com/
Febreeze ain't got nothin' on this stuff.
In my last truck, I'd smoke it it and when I got out, I'd immediately spray this inside. Later, when the wife and I got in to go somewhere she'd not have a clue that I'd been smoking in it. And she's the type that'd say something about it.
Get the spray bottle. Spray it on the carpet and anywhere else that has the smell. I didn't have any problems with any discoloration, but you may want to spay under the back seat (or somewhere just as un-noticable) as a test first.
As for getting double-sided tape off. When I took the badges off my truck, I used my 1400psi pressure washer to get the tape off. Anyone taking the ventshades off might consider doing so and going to a carwash. Not sure of the psi on the sprayers, but its worth a shot.

Yeah you know what sucks. I believe I contacted these guys and it isn't available in Canada yet, though I haven't looked personally. Maybe I'll troll through the local drugstore tonight to see if I can find it.
Thanks for the tip.

You know, what I think is funny is that people like me and vince REALLY don't want the ventshades on our trucks, but others REALLY do want them.

They come in handy for smokers who don't use ashtrays too.

I found that the ones I had up front created a HUGE blindspot when you're looking in the area of the 'A' pillar

Not all ventshades are used by smokers, I hatew going from the "Hot as Hell Texas Summer:devil:" into a leather interior that has baked all day in the sun. I had to reset mine and used alcohol swabs from the pharmacy. Took about 1/2 hour per side and a little skin off the thumb but came out clean. Next time they come off it's going to be in channel version.
Good Luck

Well they came off without a hitch...its funny cause it was hot out the other day and they just came right off without a struggle...lol. Now I just need to clean it up. I also took out the toolbox in the back that it came with. I just thought it looked tacky back there...

Hm. Hadn't thought of that. We're in for a bitch of a summer 'round these parts, seeing as how we didn't get shiat for a winter. I just hope its not like we got in '99 (?) where we had a week of 120+ (NOT KIDDING y'all) and a month of 100+ temps. I think we peaked at 126 that year.
For anyone unfamiliar with Texas: Its not uncommon for some parts of this fine state to have a month+ of 100 degree temps with little/no relief. Our summers (my area) usually (with the exception of last year) have 30+ days of 90+ degree temps with weeks at or above 100 degrees.
Guess I need to get some ventshades. My truck's got leather. And while I have a "two car" garage, there's no way it'll fit with all the crap I've got in there.

Man I hear ya on the hot leather seats in the summer time. We have about that same weather pattern in the oklahoma panhandle (Guymon) only 2 hours north of amerillo. (should be part of texas) Hell, I just leave my windows down all the time in the summer anyway. How big of a difference do tinted windows make and the vent shades. Also, anyone haveing a problem with the bright orange guage needles fading?

I found I could cut back on the air conditioner fan 1 notch after installing the darkest legal metal tint. Makes a difference on the draw on the engine. I leave my truck at one office and take the work truck 20+ miles to the south. If a rain/hail storm pops up I don't have to worry about my interior after leaving the windows down.
Ever seen a vehicle with the glass blown out not in? That is what happens around here when your interior finally hits broil in "Hell's Oven. :newburn: "

Summertime here in Texas can get pretty damn hot....its the time when sacrifices need to be made...like parking under a tree and getting covered in bird sh*t... :evillol: ..OR.....parking in an open lot and getting your as* burned to the first degree from leather seats.... :nono: ....Last summer there were a handful of days where I just draped a towel over the leather b/c of the heat...
