Okay heres the thing, I need help deciding on whether to get a HID 6500K Conversion Kit or Philips Blue Vision H1 Bulbs. The HID kit costs $300 w/o shipping fee and the Philips bulbs cost $20 for pack of two. Do I really need to spend $300 for 2 Xenon bulbs, wiring harness, and ballasts? What are the pro's and con's for each product? I would really like to spend $20 and get the Philips Blue Vision H1 Bulbs because I read on another Prelude forum that they look identical to a real HID kit.

they LOOK identical to aa real HID but fact is, that's where it ends. the point of HID lights is to light up the roads. bulbs like the philips only mimick the xenon look, they don't really put out the brightness of a true xenon headlamp. in a lot of cases, they make it worse than stock halogens.
IMO, function of form. if you want to just look like you have xenons, then just get the bulb, but if you wnat to actually see the road better at night, then get real xenons

I forgot to mension, most of my driving is at day so is $300 really worth spending it on??
This is a picture of a Prelude with the Philips Blue Vision H1 bulbs. Give me your opinion, thanks.

doesn't even really look like HID to me. My friend has an STI which has them, and they look a lot different and a lot brighter than the lights in that picture.

yeah, the ludes in the following pic are equipped with realy HID projectors. the one on the right is retrofitted with bmw e46 projector HID, the one on the left (my old lude), was retrofitted with audi A6 projectors.

having the HID light might be nice, but i would say go cheap on this one. $300 is expencive for a light buld if you are doing daytime driving. on the other hand the do look realy nice
do you think it is worth the $$$

well i mentioned it in my reply but the one on the left is my lude, retrofitted with audi A6 HID xenon projectors, the one on the right retrofitted with bmw 3 series HID xenon projectors. there is no comparison between real xenons and just bulbs in terms of how well the road is lit. HID's are pricey and i would probably suggest you spend money on other things first. i love HID, i can never go back to halogen, any car i get will be equipped with HID. and if they don't come with them like the prelude, time for another retrofit :grinyes: but yeah, find other ways to spend your money then if you have some leftover cash, then go for HID projectors. i'd advise against anything BUT projectors on 5th gens. any car in front of you will be glad you did. the light housing produces crazy glare with reflector-based HID's.

Nice looking lights...
Warning: NOOBISH QUESTION...
I've recently been looking into getting an HID kit for my 96 Camry (yeah, I know... please don't laugh too hard)
Anyway, if you don't mind me asking, how did you manage to retrofit those housings to projectors?...
My housings are the older crappy ones with lines across the glass...
