Hey,

My mistake. I'm tired;) Yes. 2004 GTO..NICE!!

Polar Lights kit seems in scale. Parts have a detail between Revell and Tamiya. Engine detail. Suspension. Floor interior and build up walls. Chrome rims look beautiful(stock and other). Front lights need to have the black painted on them. The body is predecalled, but there appears to be a seperate decal sheet with the pontiac emblem and liscense plates. I had a choice of solid: red, black, yellow, and a silver. I am not sure if there are other color offerings. I hope there will be the blue and purple. I choose the red bc. it looks fast as hell. I would have gone with the yellow, but the drift car is yellow, and wanted a different model then that.
Body looks good.

nice, thanks for sharing. That cheap looking box makes it look more like a toy than a model car though lol

go out and get some 91% Alcohol, it will strip that faster then you can say. well, you'll say a few sentences, and if you type fast you can write a book. its takes about a day to strip the paint. but it comes off easiely. it awsome that PL put extra decals in the kit for the people who want to strip it.

as for the blue and purple, PL is doing the 05 (There are some differences between the 04 and the 05), and the 05 will be available in that beutiful purplish blue.

PL is doing a helluva a job getting these new kits out, seems like they got awsome detail and build just as nice. I just hope they don't pull a Lindberg and give us awsome kits and then disapear. and I hope RC2 does'nt ruin them

gasman03 where'd you hear that an '05 would be issued? I haven't heard about those. IF so that would be great.

blubaja--the silver color is the chase version of these cars. Kind of like the pearl whites on the last releases.

Cheeze and rice!!! My lhs raped me of $18.50. I got a discount after that though. Sheesh! O well. I would have got the silver one if I knew it was rare. O well. Doesn't really matter.

$13.95 is the Manufactuers suggested retail price. The cheapest i've seen PL kits around me is 20 bucks.

Thanks Gasman! I know Art, you and I have probably chatted as well.

As far as price, our LHS sells them for $19.00. I don't know where you can get them chepaer unless you buy direct and by the case. At any rate I plan on getting all four colors. I really like the look of the car personally.
Gasman where did you get yours?

"Great American Rides"... :D And it's an Aussie car... Same thing with my ERTL "American Muscle" 1:18 diecast GTO. Looks nice next to the Auto Art Holden Monaro of the same scale.

I just hope I could get this kit also! Might be diffult here in Finland... I just have to love the car, European base (Opel Omega), American engine (Corvette) and Australian styling (the coupe version) and putting it together... This car is really one example of the global GM. Something from Europe, something from the USA and something from down under combined. It's the best of all parts in a modern car. (and they don't sell it in continental Europe...)

Miten ois kimppatilaus Ata? Odottelen tässä sitä Drifter-versiota julkaistavaksi. :naughty:

How's the detail on this kit? Does it have separate diskbrakes, or are they molded in the tires or does it have them at all? Is the body molded in plastic, not die-cast I hope? How's the interior.

Hey,

The tires are no named kind. The disk breaks aer molded into the wheelbacks on the inside of the rims so you can see them, but no, not seperate. This is a plastic bodied kit. The interior is great.

I got a red one today. It's a strange kit in some respects. It's like 90% of the model is excellent, but 10% of it sucks royally  .

The paint job is incredible...smooth and glossy, no orange peel nor dust nibs. The body shape seems dead-on. The parts count and assembly sequence give it a lot of promise as a full-detail kit.

But there are problems...the headlights are awful-the bezels have zero engraving, and feature prominent holes to accept two large mounting pins on the lenses. They then "compensated" for the three-lamp cluster styling by weakly engraving the separate lamps...on the OUTSIDE of the lenses  :screwy: :disappoin . They printed a round orange blob on the corner that isn't prototypical either. Did they bother to include some funnycar/NASCAR-style headlight decals, with black surrounds? Hell no. But they did bother to print a silver cross-hatch pattern on the grille, which is totally inaccurate :screwy: :disappoin . The foglamps on the real car are deep-set, the perimeter of the cylinder is black...this thing has dumbed it down to a nearly-flush silver lamp area w/no engraving, a giant mounting hole in the middle, and no black perimeter. To top off the rest of the toylike front end, we are treated to two very large open holes to accept a license plate frame. You think Fujimi's license plate holes are big? These are gigantic. They could have easily flashed over them, and let the builder open the holes. Nope, it seems like Polar Lights did the entire front end of this car as an afterthought. Very disappointing, not so much for me (I can fix this stuff), but for those that they are trying to sell these models to...inexperienced builders...there's so much promised w/nice paint and emblems and detail, and then they completely blow it with the face of the car :nono: .

Looking forward to the drift car and the '05 version. I'll post photos of my fixes for the goof-ups. I want to mask/paint the interior in the red/black scheme to match the red exterior. The wheels in the kit look small; the stock rims are designed correctly, the custom rims are a joke...nobody owning a $35,000 GTO is going to put these incredibly lame 17" custom rims on it...rims that look like cheap plastic wheelcovers made for 15 year old minivans. My leftover stock Gallardo rims look magnificent on it :sunglasse :icon16: .

I'll have to agree with Bob on a few points of the car. I just went through a mock up session and went through all my wheel kits to find something presentable. It appears that 18" Aoshima and Fujimi wheels are the ticket. It gives it the right look. 17 or 19" weels are either too small or too big.
I was lucky enough to buy all four colors today. Although red and yellow I am giving to some friends. I've got the black and silver.
