Help! I just recently purchased this 1997 sunfire GT and whenever I put the fan selector to the windshield position the AC turns on and I can't turn it off. Also the fan only works on full and nothing else. I dunno where to start. Also my highbeam function results in no lights and i have replaced the bulbs. The right indicator light flickers faster than the left and when it does that the rear bulb doesn't illuminate hazards work fine though. where do I start, help! thanks

1- if the turn signal flickers faster then the other it means that you have a burnt out bulb...thats a feature of new cars.
2- and what do you mean by the ac turns on ?...you mean that little green light above the rear defrost light...if thats what your talking about then its not supposed to turn off , its supposed to stay on when you put the fan on windshield setting.
3- if you replaced the bulbs and it still doesnt work properly..then check the wireing for the bulb socket...if any wires are not in place its probably the cause for that.

oh and if the fan only works on full then get your blower motor checked...it might be burnt out or soo weak that you can only tell its working on the max setting

Thank you guys for the input i will check out the suggestions.
Regarding the AC light turning on when i set to windshield mode, it turns on and you can feel a significant change in the engine noise so i'm assuming that the AC compressor turns on as well and when you switch it to any other mode the engine noise and the AC lights goes away. And the right indicator- the hazards work perfectly fine, could it still be faulty wiring? the problem only comes when i signal right... the front indicator actually blinks but the rear one doesn't. thank you

did you try changing the bulb in the back then...even if the front works fine if the back bulb doesnt work then the indicator will blink faster to let you know that one of the signals is screwed...ya..when you change the setting of the fan the engine will get louder cuz it is the compressor kicking in to a higher output...but ya...i would change the bulb on the signal thats not working before you mess around with the wireing
good luck

So it's suppose to turn on the AC even when i only want HEAT to the windshield... the engine will stop making the loud noise as soon as i chage it to a different setting like feet and still have the higher fan setting.. is it suppose to do that.. run the AC compressor even if i want heat on the windshield? thanks
good luck

AC stands for "air conditioning" not cold air...you can still condition the air and pump out heat

Well in this case the AC is enabling the Compressor when i turn on the heat.. is it suppose to turn on the Cold Air Compressor when i want to heat the windshield? thanks

its not just a cold air compressor tho its more like having a unit that can put out both cold and hot air...the compressor is just what pushes that air around.

ok i got a new problem... i cleaned my engine the other day and i took off the air hose and the ignition coils... i put everything back after cleaning and then started my car and now i'm getting a check engine sign.. and for a brief moment i had a check gauges sign.. what can i do to fix this.. i have gone over every wire and bolt that i took apart and check for connectivity

you might have water in one of the lines or you might have water build up in one of the ignition coils...i would just disconnect everything and set up a lamp on your engine to evaporate all the water you might have in dangerous places.
