Bought one last night for my daughter as a grad gift. I look forward to finding helpful information on this forum. The Geo Metro forum really saved the day on several occasions.
The kid: 18 in 2 weeks, graduating college next week with a tech certificate, high school later in the month.
The car: '05 5-door LS, automatic, air, nothing fancy but it looks like a good car. The color: Key Lime Green. You won't find it in the brochures or on the "Build a Chevy" site, but you can see it coming from a mile away. The color is best described by what she named her car: "Shrek" Teenagers----go figure.
The price: $12,800 bottom line with discounts, rebates, tax, tag, title included.
The closest competitors on our minds: Civic VP or Ford Focus S, but more money to buy and higher insurance costs than the Aveo.
The Dealer: Chevrolet of Dade City in Dade City, FL. The best experience I've ever had with a dealer (and I've dealt with MANY)and I was able to get the 4.9% 60-month deal through GMAC.
To date I've had good experience with the service dept. also.
The Plan: Drive it 'till the wheels fall off. Hopefully the warranty will keep them on for a few years.
Thanks in advance for any help I may glean from this Forum, and we'll post our experiences as they occur.

Welcome cbuck, I hope your daughter enjoys the car.
So far I haven't had a bit of trouble with my 04 hatchback, except for the clock reseting. But I can deal with that.

Welcome ! I bought my Aveo about 6 weeks ago. So far it has been perfect. Mine is an LS with auto trans and A/C. I have about 1600 miles on it so far. It is great. Hope your experience is as good as mine has been.

hope you enjoy it. i sure enjoy mine. it seems very low maintenance. oilfilters should actually be changed every 6000 miles: 3000 is too son in my opinion.gas may be xpensive, but not as much as an suv or truck.
