just picked up a 96 900SE with the 2.0 turbo engine, and a 5speed manual. the car needs a new clutch though. i'm fairly mechanically inclined myself. ive done a timing chain on my last car, and many other repairs also. i want to know how difficult it is to replace the clutch on this car? does anyone know of any online service manuals i could browse through?

thanks,

matt

with airtools i can have the tranny out, on the floor in 20 minutes. very easy. large 18mm bolt hold it to the engine. first, drain it. suspend the engine.lower the subframe (engine cradle) with the 6 bolts (2 18mm and 4 16mm). undo the balljoints, move the cradle out of the way, undo the bolts holidng it to engine, undo the clutch cable (replace this no matter what, youll thank me later). undo the connector to the rev. light switch. undo the trans bolts and front mount(15mm bolts). lower the engine about 4-6 inches. have a helper grab an end and it slides off. clean everything up good. replace the input shaft seal, axle seals and shift shaft seal. while you are there.(reason to replace clutch cable). fit to engine andn fill with new mtf 0063 trans fluid. (1.9L)it is a good idea to have the flywheel turned at a machine shop.
