I have a 2000 zx3 with around 100000 miles on it. I was wonderng how bad of an idea it would be to turbocharge an engine with that many miles on it. I figure it would be best to completely rebuild the bottom end but the cost of that combined with the turbo kit would be quite expensive.

Turbocharging is always a good thing, but on higher mileage engines the higher than stock cylinder pressures caused by forced induction will eventually Blow your Head Gaskets.I found this out the hard way on my Car.If you are planning an engine rebuild or replacment sometime in the future then this is not a bad idea, but if you want this car's engine to last for awhile then I would'nt turbocharge it.

if your going to pay at about $3500-4000 for a turbo kit, I wouldnt skimp on the engine. At a bare minimum, I would replace the pistons and rings.

Agree...not only will the stock parts not last as long, but it's also a good idea to get new low compression pistons with a turbo kit, stronger rods too...it's sort of like buying a bodykit without having the money to paint it...you have it, but you can't get the full advantages out of it.
