Idle control solenoid

The idle speed on my '92 Metro drops as electrical load is applied (wipers, lights, heater, fan). The more items switched on, the further the idle speed drops. The computer is supposed to compensate via the ICS. The ICS seems to always be drawing air through it, regardless of any electrical load. I have swapped in a known good ICS, but no luck! The electrical connector to the ICS is always hot. Could this be a computer issue?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Ray

Hi Ray

Does the valve pulse?

Mine will pulse when a load is applied, which should mean that it is working. Yet the mighty metro will not hold its idle. I had to crank out the idle screw to get her to idle.
Now I think I have a running to rich issue?

Joe,
The valve pulses whenever the engine is running, regardless of load or no load. If I unplug the electrical connector, it quits pulsing and the idle slows somewhat. My guess is that the computer is telling the valve to stay open, but I have been unable to verify my theory through anyone of genius status. Thanks for the reply.

Hi, i know this is an older thread but there are plenty of things that can cause this. Vacuum Leak, EGR valve, faulty fuel pump, wrong fuel mixture, and many others. Any of these things could cause the computerto not be able to compensate for electrical load.
