on skid pad measumeants how do they get the ratings...it seems like 1.0 g. is good but wat does that mean...thx for any hlep

The skid pad measures the maximum cornering forces the car can generate. Alone it is not a good measure of how well a car handles, but it does indicate maximum corning capacity and the amount of under/over/natural steer the car exhibits at its limits.

Yes, this is referent to the amount of cornering force a car can generate. But how it is rated is in G's and displays how much lateral force can be put on the car in a turn. Your example was 1.0 g. A car that exhibits 1.0 g on the skid pad is taking 1 times its one body weight in lateral force. A car that exhibits 3.0 g's can maintain grip while 3 times its own body weight is exerted laterally through the car.
