i'm looking at getting a dragon M3 lightweigh and a Tamiya bmw 325i, the question i wanted to ask is has anyone here made a dragon M3 lightweight ? is it worth getting? does it have engine details? whats the fitment like? how do i work around the pre-painted body? and if you have a tamiya 325i are you willing to sell and how much?

thanks in advance

Hi

I Have Those 2 Bmw's

The Dragon Kit Don't Have Any Engine Detail

The Tamiya Kit Have Engine Detail, And I Think The Engine And The Interior Are The Same As The Bmw Revell Ag (alpina)

Body shape looks spot on to me. Wheels are great, brake rotors are too small (easily corrected, Fujimi Brembos fit right on top), fit is pretty good. Personally, I'd strip the paint off with 99% isopropyl, and repaint as you please (Avus Blau or Dakar Gelb are definately the best colors the M3 was offered in!). Decent kit, if you're a fan of the M3, I'd say it's a must have. Don't know why they bother to call it a lightweight, it's certainly not something that would make any difference with this kit (the M3 lightweight had no AC and no sound insulation).

Good bloody luck finding the Tamiya 325i.

I have a Dragon M3 and have seen a few built; I think they appear slightly narrow and they don't have a B pillar, a strange ommission (it's very slightly engraved on the side glass, not very convincing). Overall it's a decent model but could be better.

I haven't got any of the 3 series kits w/engines.

I'm building the prepainted one right now & can confirm that isopropyl works fine removing the paint.

To add to the above comments, the interior is pretty good in this kit; has both LHD and RHD dashboards & centre consoles plus adhesive 'carpet' & decals for the seats with the 'M' coloured fabric pattern on them which look OK.

It's definitely better than the dragon 4 door kits which had good external proportions but had 2 door interior side panels.

Definitely an easy build. As there's no engine and underside detail's a bit sparse, you may as well go to town on the interior as it can look really good detail painted.

E36 two door Bimmers don't have external B pillars, so painting it in black from behind is pretty accurate.
