Am I rice?

Now the word has been passed around by everyone, but I try and use the word as minimal as possible. This is because, in my opinion, the word "rice" has become extremely exhaggerated (sp?). I have some Camaro dickhead telling me I am a rice asshole because my car only has 150hp, and I wish to customize the looks of my car by adding a body kit.

Now, I go on to tell him I just would rather mod the looks of my car, than modify my car to extreme amounts of speed, because I know too many people that have been wrapped around a tree, or got upclose and personal with a stone wall. Its just better for me if I can keep myself controlled with a slower car, like the 420a.

Now to get to my question. Because I am not extremely modifying my engine, (I am doing the basics I/H/E) but I am adding a bodykit and exterior looks (dont worry no wing here), does that make me a ricer. Cause if thats the case, im sorry, but the word ricer no longer will have meaning in my book....

You need to explain to that dumbass that there is a difference between a "go car" and a "show car." Rice is not how a car looks (well...in most cases anyway), but the driver's attitude. Some asshat who puts carbon fiber windshield wipers on his car and thinks he's going to smoke everything on the road is a ricer. Someone who wants to make their car look nice but does not plan on racing it is by no means a ricer.

Pshhhh ive been called rice too because I have a 4g64 and I have heavily modified the exterior and interior of my rid and not touched the engine, but only the drive train with a b&m short shifter, and exedy clutch kit. I look at rice as stupid things like nos floor mats, aluminum wing that doesnt actualy produce down force, altezzas, fake carbon fiber stickers, ghetto installs, stickers, colored winshield wipers, led winshield wiper nozels.

If people call me a ricer I really dont care, because every girl that sees the car wants to get in it (not trying to sound cocky) so I just laugh because I know there are certain groups who like my type of car and who hate it. Just do what makes you happy man.

In response to your question: "Am I rice?" Nope, you're a human being and your car...it doesn't look like rice either. Don't worry about people saying your car is "rice" or that you're a "ricer." There's always going to be a few people that'll say that. What matters is whether the owner is happy with his/her car. The car is yours so can do whatever you want to it as long as it's legal.

I tried to explain to the Camaro dick about how I just want to mod the looks, and I understand my car is slow, sorry to dissapoint him. His response was something like, NO your trying to make it look fast, and make people think your fast.... I honestly was like, I give up.

rice is an attitude of acting like your car is faster than it is. If you don't act like your car can whoop Corvettes and Supras then don't worry. Unfortunately, alot of DSM owners (nearly all of them GS and RS owners) do have the ricer attitude and think they drive a sports car.

yeah any muscle head hick will call you a ricer, you could be pulling 10 sec 1/4 miles and he'd still call you a ricer. based on the fact you don't have a v8.

I got 18" motegi wheels with Toyo proxies, and a few guys at work called me a ricer. i'm like its a GST i need all the traction i can get!

to me rice isnt anything, rice is a foriegn car from japan. the only reason rice is used is because of rice paddies. we are all basically rice to people with american cars. thats just my 2 cents

personaly i think go before show but i respect show cars for instance i love vertical doors and sweet paint jobs but i prefer to go fast first. I think its just a matter of preference. It does get old though when every civic on the planet with a fart can and some stickers is racing around your neighborhood :mad:

I would say go for it. Make your car look nice and bling. You'll know if what your doin is rice if you can pick up some of your major components at walmart. Most people who have cars like camaros and fiberbirds and blah blah are usually so full of shit I don't even bother with them. They arent that fast trust me just heavy and slow. :loser: My car gets called rice all the time, if anybody ever says that just take a look at the piece of crap they are drivin and tellem to shove it.

I don't think you're rice if:

a)you know that your car isn't going to be fast by adding heavy rims and a body kit. Also, if you admit that your car is meant to be a show car and you probably won't be winning many races in it

b)you do things to the interior/exterior along with performance mods

I understand what you're saying though about everything being called rice these days. A silver Mustang GT pulled up to me a couple months back and laughed at me calling me a ricer (exterior is stock :eek7: ). He shut up real quick though.

rice IS still out there though, there's a Neon around town that is white with a grey fender, red fender, blue front bumper, fog lights from a rally car that just dangle out of the bumper and hit the ground and it has a dragon on the side of it :rofl:

Hey some people buy super cars and anothers build them. Personally the way i look at it is if it ain't import it's crap. Shit lets some dick in a mustang or a camaro call you a ricer for do shit to your car. Hell i've seen mustang and camaros that "Riced out" too. Do what makes you happy regardless what others think

i think rice is when ppl put nos stickers or apc stickers just a bunch of non sense stickers and rigged up performance is rice. its stuff that ppl really don't have and pretend they have is rice...so continue with your outside mods and look good then do whatever you want after that

Rice is all in the eyes of the beholder....it doesn't matter if you just want your car to look better...the tard in the mustang will call it rice either way....but what they think is not important. And I know you said you didn't want to really do speed because you have seen people wrapped around poles and shit....but that doesn't have to be you, its mostly a bunch of ricers who have some warped idea of what their car can actually do find them wrapped around a pole. I would know this, I totaled a civic and when I had it thought that, slap on a turbo and I've got a 12 sec car. I have come a looooong way. Even though I didn't mod the looks on the civic I was still a "ricer". And no matter what, if you put on a body kit you will be called rice..even if you don't, mustang guys will STILL call you rice if your car is fast.... But either way, def get those carbon fiber windsheild wipers 6-10 hp easy man...

I think the main thing people are forgetting is that rice is more of a state of mind that anything. Personally I think if someone buys a bidy kit for their car, puts it on hastily and drives around with it unpainted for months it is rice. Also, when people's egos are massive and they think they rule the streets when they car is a slow POS. I tend to be pretty cocky when I roll up to grand ams, hondas etc.. but when I pull up to a GT or an LS1 I know not to give them the "i'm superior" look.
