I need help with my 89 mustang lx 2.3l

Here is my problem. When I start the car the oil pressure shoots up to normal and the engine runs beautifully. But, as soon as the car warms up the oil pressure drops like a stone to nothing and the engine runs like its full of rocks. If anybody has any idea what is causing this I would love some advice. I am completely stumped. As well as replying to this e-mails can be sent to [email protected].

Help me please I miss my stang.

Check your dipstick. Are you running enough oil?Put some slick 50 and some new oil, if it still does it ask an actual mechanic or ask here:
The speedtrap (http://pub101.ezboard.com/bspeedtrap)

They have the answers to everything.

Your oil pickup sounds like its getting clogged, drop your oil pan and make sure its clean. Other than that it sounds like your oil pump is going out, but check the screen first.

I have seen this happen on cars with a lot miles, the valve have these rubber sleeves that over time get hard and break up that will eventually make there way down to the oil pump and clog it up.

It really sucks when you dont know that your pump pickup screen has a hole in it and those little stem seal bits lock up three pumps on a rebuilt block....

Also, if the engine has alot of miles, the main bearings could be getting worn, causing the oil pressure to go down when the oil gets hot and thins out.
