Hello everyone,
Yesterday I purchased a CD player to replace my audio-cassette player in my '94 Buick Lesabre Custom. I also received some instructions on how to remove the older radio.
The first instruction is:
Extract the 2 screws in the top-underside of the instrument panel.
I'm not sure if I'm just overlooking something very obvious or not, but I cannot find these screws. Would someone possibly give me a feel for where these screws might be located? I'm confused.
I'd appreciate any suggestions.
Thank you,
Jason

Search the forums for "stock DIN Radio" In that thread there are instructions on removal for a park avenue, but the dash is the same in the lesabre.
If you cant find it, basically pop out all the air vents, and remove the screws in each one, do not drop the screws! remove the lower wood grain trim and remove the screws it was concealing. turn the car on, but dont start it, engane the e-brake and shift into first. Gentle tugs will pull the black dash cover off. There you have access to the radio mounting bolts.
Good Luck!

Thank you very much for your response.
I got the cd player working today; though, I can't seem to pick up any radio stations. From what I've read, this means the stereo is not grounded correctly.
I purchased a specific wiring harness for my make of car, it has a black ground write coming out of it. The wiring harness that came with the stereo also had a black ground wire. So, I attached the two, but still not reception.
Any suggestions? I don't know too much about this, but the ground wire needs to be attached to somethimg metallic? How actually would it be doing this with the current way?
Thanks again,
Jason

If the cd player is working, I would think that the ground is okay (it is grounded). Did you forget to plug in the black antenna wire into the back of the radio? If it is not picking up any stations, the antenna wire must not be hooked in, or it came loose when it was pushed back into the opening. Is it showing the station numbers in the display, but just make fuzzy static noise? If so, it must be a loose or not connected antenna wire.

Hmm..
The only black wire I have is the ground wire. I do have a blue wire for the power atenna. When I turn on the radio, the attenna raises, so I was thinking it was okay.
Thanks,
Jason

If it is set up for receiving AM and FM, the antenna wire will need to plug into the unit somewhere. Some plug directly into the back of the unit. Some units have a short pig tail that the antenna wire plugs in to. If the power antenna goes up when you turn it on, that would mean that you got the power hooked up to the power antenna ok. So, the ground must be good or the antenna wouldn't go up. There should be an antenna cable that kind of looks like a coaxle cable for cable tv that plugs into the unit. That needs to be hooked up in order to get any reception. When you removed the old unit, you must have unplugged the antenna wire from it. The antenna wire is thicker than regular wire. It is about a quarter inch thick, maybe more. It has a round metal pin thing on that end that goes in first. It should be pushed in as far as it will go into the radio.

also gm tried using a different size antenna wire than other manufacturers, which means you might have to purchase another adapter about $10-$15.

Thanks everyone. It did require an antenna adapter, I bought it tonight, a Scosche Universal Antenna Adapter. The only thing now is that I seem to pick up AM reception fine, but FM reception is nothing but static. I'm looking around trying to find some information about why that might be happening. Thanks again :)
