Oddly Enough - Reuters

MIAMI (Reuters) - Fed up with his troublesome car, a Florida man fired five rounds from a semi-automatic pistol into the hood of the 1994 Chrysler LeBaron.

"I'm putting my car out of its misery," 64-year-old John McGivney said after the incident outside an apartment building in Lauderdale-By-The-Sea, according to a police report that listed the car as "deceased."

McGivney surrendered to police, was jailed on a firearms charge on Friday and released on bond a day later. He told them the car had been giving him trouble for years.

"I think every guy in the universe has wanted to do it," the South Florida Sun-Sentinel on Wednesday quoted McGivney as saying. "It was worth every damn minute in that jail."

I'd never ever do that to my holden. Ever.

BTW that's pretty funny.

But can someone explain to my why he can't shoot his car if he has the "right to bear arms"? that just doesn't make sence to me *shrugs*

Well if he did it in the middle of the street or something....

It wasn't a case of what he was shooting, it's about WHERE he was shooting, you can't just discharge a firearm in a residential area.

Hmmm...You should try this in a Hummer H1 to see if it really is bulletproof or if its a fake version.

Umm, The only Hummers that are bulletproof are the military version (humvee) unless you get it bulletproofed. You wouldn’t want to go and shoot your civilian Hummer up. Only reason the man got in trouble for shooting is due to the fact it was it a public place. If he had done it on his own property where there is not a restriction on shooting he would have been okay.

Not all the military ones are armored either, there's a lot of controversy about that.

Uhhhh.....you cannot fire a firearm at anytime on your own property legally, due to city bylaws.
The only legal places to fire a firearm, are in parks where hunting is ally, at outdoor gun ranges which have been cleared by city bylaw as safe places to fire a firearm, and indoor ranges which have permits from the city.

Sorry, just want to make sure that is clear for some people, as I am rather pro-gun, and I wish not to see any anti-gun activists reading this post wrongly.

Ah well yes, I was just pointing out in general. I do recall that because I remember reading about soldiers in Iraq making armor for their hummers.

That's inside city limits. What about outside them?
