ok so heres the deal. i bought a new engine for my car since the old one got fucked up by a snapped timing belt. the engine i bought was the same engine as the blown one. problem was it was carburated so i had to reuse my old intake manifold. and put a flange plate on. so the engine is in and everything, and i took out the air conditioning. my engine temperature gauge isnt reading anything, and theres a plug at the fron of the car near the fans that doesnt seem to have anywhere to go. my car starts, runs really rich, then once it heats up it starts to idle really funny and eventually dies. i ran it for a bit last weekend before it died and i looked under the car and the cat was glowing red. so its runing rich. but i dunno what sensor is broken, i already replaced the idle air control valve. any help on this problem would be appreciated.
btw its a four speed dual point injection 1990 hatchback.

if you had a digi cam, you could take a picture of the connector and we'd be able to help you out. maybe its your o2 sensor thats unplugged. Also, the temp gauge sending unit is located right under the distributor. its a one wire connector. I think the color if the wire is green and white but cant be positive about it off the top of my head.

well the housing is white. and no its not my o2 sensor. its more off to the passenger side, like in between the fender and the fan.

to save it from running rich what i would do is get a cheap turbo kit and get a little boost outta it so that it will even out the a/f ratio to stoich. Dont run too much boost or youll be lean as shit and thats never good either.
Kinda hard to believe that you can run rich with dpfi lol, cuz it dont deliver fuel for shit.
BTW i was joking about the turbo. But i bought one today w00t!

Maybe you fried your O2 sensor. Try resetting the ECU...
