I'm doing a v8 conversion and I was wondering what the difference is between the 4 cylinder 5 speed and a 6 cylinder 5 speed, I never really though about it until archie recommended that I use a tranny from a 6 cylinder instead of the one that I had from a four cylinder.

There is a big difference. The 5 spd intended for a 4 cyl could not handle the power of the 6 cyl.

This is why the 5 spd option was only available in a 4 cyl for a couple of years, until a strong enough 5 spd could be sourced for the 6 cyl.
