Brief power loss & brake jerk

I have a 95 Talon 2-wheel drive automatic with a 420A or 4G63 engine (based on the user manual). It has about 88,000 killometers on it (55K miles). There are two problems with it: (1) Occasional loss of power - usually for only a second or so while driving. RPMs drop and then recover. (2) On about one in every 5 braking stops there is a jerk just before the car comes to a stop - like as if you had made a jerky change into a low gear on a manual drive car. Don't know whether the revs drop at the same time - was looking for that as thought this could be an ABS fault. But haven't been quick enough to see. No engine lights come on for either fault. I'm wondering if these faults are related.

If it's a 4G63 it has a turbo.... if it is a 420A it is non-turbo...

Can't help with the loss of power but... as for the "jerk when braking...
Does it do the "jerk" right before you come to a stop? I had that in my old spyder when I was stopping very aggressively and it would be kinda like it was binding and then let loose.... sound similar? I was told that it could be the torque converter sticking or something along those lines but never found out... I always stayed back from others and kept from having to brake hard... well until a trailer whipped out in front of me but the tranny was the last of my concernes...lol

Must be a 420A as performance nothing to write home about. Rarely have to brake hard and haven't noticed the clunk, except during normal stopping e.g. to park, or coming up to lights.

sounds like either your torque converter is failing or the whole transmission itself is failing.
