After Makret shifter

How do i change my shifter knob? I drive a 2000 sunfire GT...standard. Ive heard about a c clip for automatics and ive also heard about one on a standard. I looked for the c clip...even going as far as ripping off all the rubber on my shifter to see if it was underneath...no luck. Now i have a stupid looking plastic shifter and no c-clip. HOW DO I TAKE THIS DAMN SHIFTER OFF!!!!!!

turn it, it screws on. may turn a little hard so give it heck. remember lefty loosey
