Hello world,
I've been giving my neighbor a hand redoing pulling/installing a new motor for his '88 c1500. Think the engine code on vin is "J". Color is blue, although pretty irrelivant for my question.
Ok. there is a connector from the main harness (the back bone) along the firewall. just to the right of the distibutor. (Right being difined as "passanger" side) This connector belongs somewhere but we can't seem to locate it's home. There is only about 3 to 4 inches of wire that it can travel to. The connector is odd shaped, similar to a half cicle in a way and is bulkier than the typical GM connectors. Despite its bulkiness there are on two wires for it- black w/pink trace (?) and ??? can't remember. Also, the little ruber like sleeve that keeps moisture, debris, etc. is a dark pink-like color. My neighbor says it connects to a oil pressure switch maybe or a oil-something-r-another. AC Delco part # is 1255 3175. And no, this part is not on the vehicle. That is in reality what I really need to find out; where does it go on the motor?! Once we put that bad boy on, and a couple of very minor/basic issues, it'll be rollin'!! So if anyone can possibley be of any assistance helping us figure tis out, I personally will be your best friend (maybe)!!

AC Delco part# 12553175 = OIL PRESSURE SWITCH
I think the oil pressure switch wires connects to the fuel pump relay. The oil pressure switch is on the backside of the block, driver side of the distributor. When the sun comes up I can go take a look at mine and say for sure.

Awesome. That sounds like the correct location and based on Haynes/Chiltons manuals, under "driveability and emmissions" section, the fuel pump relay is the only thing I can see that is located near the vacinity of the harness. I'm about to go over there and see how things are going. Hopefully you helped confirm what we were thinking but will not be afraid to ask more ?'s if needed!!
