Runnin' Great.

I haven't been to involved with this forum as of late. I remembered that I was still subscribed and decided to bounce on over. All I see is posts about how someone’s car is "dead" or "runnin' bad."
So here is my post saying that my 94 LX, with almost 150,000 miles, is runnin' great. Haven't had anything wrong with it mechanically since the day I bought it. Except for some brake repairs, which cost me all of $180. Keep in mind I live in Michigan, cold cold winters with lots of salt, still runnin' great.
I'm hoping that there are so many more of you out there that are actually having good luck, then having conflicts.
Good luck to all that are having problems, I only hope that this avenue of brainpower is helping you immensely.

whoa...absolutely no major problems? Do you baby your car? (drive it slowly, take all trips at once, do weekly maintenance)
You probably put all those miles on, correct? You see I bought my car used so thats one of the reasons I do alot of maintenance.
Thats great though. Consider yourself lucky, all in all... I have about 150k miles and my tbird is in fair condition had a little minor defects but runs pretty good.

I bought my first '93 in January '95 with just under 40k on the clock, flew it hard and put it up wet many nights. I repaced one A-arm and one spindle bearing before having it totaled by a jack off at 111,000 miles. Not much hope to revive a $4500 car that had $11,400 worth of damage. Sometimes I wish I could find it's twin. I loved that car. :(

I'm new on this board so I'll yukk a bit. You guys with 150K birds are only half way home...! I got a friend who put 330K on his '87 5.0 litre bird before he swapped out the engine. Funniest thing was, he built up the new engine when the bird had 250K on the old one. Wanted to have a new one ready to drop into it. Did a real job on the buildup, even sawed the intake in half to polish the inside, then welded it back together... Anyhow, he nearly went nuts waiting for the old engine to wimp out before doing the swap. I think it was 3 - 4 years... (He's a sales guy... drives a lotta miles.) The old engine was still running pretty good when he finally pulled it at 330K...

damn that really sucks! so much damage done to a car worth under 5 grand! Was it a SC? Yeah, Its hard to find the same kind. When I lose this one , I think Im gonna buy a used SC somewhere...

what about a 3.8? I heard they're reliable, I mean they're no toyota or honda engine that goes well over 300k. How reliable are the 3.8's though?

No, it was an LX 5.0.
As far as a 3.8 goes, my '88 Tbird did very well. The earlier 3.8's were great. The only issue with the early '90s were the headgaskets.
