I was on my way to to work, and i was stopping on a fairly steep road, all of a sudden the red BRake light and the yellow abs lights came on. The brakes worked fine and still do. The red brake/ ebrake light flashes on and off sometimes when driving, but as soon as the truck is started about 10 sec later the abs light comes on and stays on until i turn the vehicle off.
If any one has any ideas, any help would be aprreciated. Thanks in advance, Dave.

Check brake fluid level . Low fluid can cause both lights to come on, even if down a little

thanks, youd think i would have thought of that but oh wellmy brain wasnt working that night, that was the problem, the level was down like 1/4 inch from the max line and i guess the movement of the vehicle was causing it to dip below the sensor, thanks for the help

Just one more note.
Brake fluid level naturally drops to compensate for brake pad/shoe wear since the hydraulic caliper and wheel cylinder pistons have to travel further to apply the brakes.
Check all 4 brakes for wear , you may be close to needing new brakes and it's better to find out now than after damaging rotors or drums.

I was thinkin that too, but i only have about 25000km on the brakes that i had done, so i looked a little closer. It turns out that the bolt that holds the spare tire to the carrier had come loose and the spare slid back into the t-connector on the differential, and had just cracked the brakeline, so when the pedal was pushed you could just see it bubbling. easy fix once i repaired the line and bled them. Thanks for your help
