I was wanting some Opinions on a few options im looking at right now. Im wanting to do a few mods to my stock 89 305 tbi. and i dont know much about modifying, just repairing lol. since im inexperienced and like things easy, i was wanting most mods to be do-it-yourself bolt-ons.
I was thinking about:
a holley 670 cfm tbi
a new manifold (maybe holley's pro-jection or edelbrock's performer)
headers
heads ported
with modified intake and exhaust, would i need a upgraded cam to get the full effect?

I think youre on the right path here, the mods youre talking about would sertainly wake things up a bit, and naturally the addition of a cam would make an even bigger impact.
Im not entirely sure if those mods would make a computer reprogram nessesary, but it certainly wouldnt hurt.

thanks 89. im actually considering saving up for a lt1 needing rebuilt. no offense to the 305 owners but this thing is just a 305 and id much rather put a little extra cash into a better(just an opinion) engine.

1. Holley 670cfm TBI, from what I read, it won't be necessary to upgrade to this until you get into heavier mods such as heads, cam, etc.
2. Manifold, I personally, am going with the Holley over the edelbrock because it's cheaper in price and it's the perfect setup for what I'm doing.
3. Headers, can't go wrong with headers, definately get some.
4. Heads ported, don't waste any time or money on those swirl-port heads. 89 will tell you vortec heads are the way to go, but they'll require a lot of extra work and money to use them and keep the car emission legal. I suggest getting (budget wise) ahold of a set of 305 TPI heads and have those ported and polished.

I thought the lamp removal was weird to, I ran a tube from the foglight hole to right under the snorkel.
