thanks

thanks I´ve thought about this too and came to the conclusion that it won´t be worth it. I´d guess it´ll be too expensive for the 12hp and the 3Nm of torque which you´ll get then.
My one and only engine mod will be a K&N drop-in filter because I don´t want my car to be that noisy again and I haven´t lost a race yet with my stock engine. Okay, I don´t beat or race a Porsche or other cars like that but they are playing in another league and there will always be somebody who´s faster! You´ll just get even more traction problems than before. But that´s just my personal oppinion....;)

true for 12 hp i wouldnt consider it, but i'm running the 185hp prelude engine. so 185 to 212 is somewhat more of a change... thats... 27 horses.
Do you know what parts of the engine are different that you'd have to change? Is it just the cams and head or is it more than that?

Do you know what parts of the engine are different that you'd have to change? Is it just the cams and head or is it more than that? I see! Yea, then it makes more sense. But it´ll be still too expensive I´d guess. I think you´d have to get new cams, heads (??), valves, ECU, new exhaust system with header,...
Maybe you should just think about a conversion from 185 to 200hp!? That would be a lot easier and cheaper IMO. But I dunno.....I´ve never heard of anybody doing anything like this (except of an Integra GSR to Type-R conversion!). Just try to find out which parts would have to be changed and what their price is. Maybe it´ll be cheaper at the end to just get a supercharger.

if i knew what the difference was between the 185 and 200hp engine i would have done it already. do you know?
i know the compression is the same. The exhausts and intake might be choking the 185 a bit but i'm betting its cams.
In any case i'm gonna get all my engine work done at once, i'm already planning on crower stage 2 cams, valves, springs, retainers. While its open putting on a head of an accord type r wouldnt be hard...
but back to the point, do you know what the difference is in the 200hp engine?

but back to the point, do you know what the difference is in the 200hp engine? I´m not sure about the difference to be honest! Personally I´d say that my BB6 has got different cams, maybe a different intake system (I´ve found out that my intake system is NOT from the ATR. It just has got the same design like the JDM Type-S intake.) and a different ECU compared to your Lude. Most of our US members say that the stock header of the 5th gen VTEC Lude is already very good designed so I´d say they´re all using the same one. And I´m sure that they´re all using the same exhaust system, too. So it should be all about cams, intake and ecu IMO. But like I´ve already said this is just a guess and not 100% sure. Hope it helps.

thanks
i will most likely change the cams and i'm putting on an AEM cold air intake, so that takes care of those two problems. The only thing left is the ECU.
How much do dyno runs go for in germany? It would be a great experiment to do a run with my ecu and then one with a 00-01 ecu.

one more thing: there have got to be crashed accord type r's in junkyards around europe. we should be able to get our hands on these engines that way, right? or is it still very costly?
oh yeah and one more one more thing :D
do you know a good shop in germany that carries american + japanese modifications for our cars without costing a fortune? could you give me the site/phone number if there is?
thanks :)

I saw an 2.4 liter modified prelude engine on a german site... about 12.000 dm ... they didn't say anything about the horsepower... It's a lot of money.... it has to be installed also, so it will be more than 12000 dm...
it maybe doesnt has to do anything with your engine... but I know they have stengtened rods and so on at that store... I'll look up the link for you... maybe you can get more info there.

thanks :) Hmmm,.....I dunno. ATRs are really rare so I dunno if it´ll be easy to get one of its engines from anywhere except from Honda. And even if you would find one on the junkyard it´ll be still expensive if the owner is not dumb as §$%&! IMO the idea with the new cams and CAI is the best and the cheapest one to get some extra power.
Nearly forgot that! The only good german shop who´s selling USDM and JDM parts is www.speedcircle.de . But I think that they aren´t cheap, too.
